Week 16 of Monday Night Football has Brock Purdy and the 49ers visiting Philip Rivers and the Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m. ET on ESPN and ABC.
San Francisco controls their own destiny to win the NFC West division, but they need a victory this evening to keep those hopes alive heading into the final two weeks of the regular season. Meanwhile, the Colts’ playoff hopes are hanging on by a thread. They will essentially be eliminated from postseason contention with a loss this evening.
Looking at the NFL odds for Monday Night Football, the 49ers are currently favored by 5.5 points on the spread. The total is set at over/under 46.5 points.

Best NFL Player Props for 49ers vs. Colts
Here are my top player prop bets, with kickoff scheduled for 8:20 PM ET on Monday, December 22nd:
- Philip Rivers Over/Under 18.5 Completions
- Philip Rivers Over/Under 160.5 Passing Yards
- Michael Pittman Over/Under 3.5 Receptions
Philip Rivers OVER 18.5 Completions (+110, FanDuel)
It’s probably not sustainable for the Colts to continue to run the ball repeatedly on 1st and 2nd down after they just put 60 minutes of football on film doing that exact thing in Week 15 against the Seahawks. Tonight, it would make a lot more sense to design some easy completions near the line of scrimmage for Rivers on early downs, forcing the San Francisco defense to play the run less aggressively.
If the Colts end up in a trailing game script this evening, they could be forced to let Rivers air things out. This is good value at plus money.
Philip Rivers OVER 160.5 Passing Yards (-112, FanDuel)
In his 2025 debut, Rivers threw for 120 yards against one of the league’s premier defenses, on the road, with less than a full week of practice time. For his encore, he gets a much more palatable matchup against the 49ers. This time around, he is at home with the benefit of a full week of practice.
We might look back on this number as being terribly mispriced by the end of tonight’s action.
Michael Pittman OVER 3.5 Receptions (-105, bet365)
In Week 15, Pittman was tied for 2nd on the team in targets (5) and receptions (3). Perhaps most importantly, Pittman had a 93.1% snap share, which was the highest of any wide receiver with a sub-10.0 aDOT.
HC Shane Steichen has insisted that they will try to introduce more verticality to the team’s offense in this matchup, but the reality is that Philip Rivers averaged 2.0 air yards per completion in the 1st half last weekend against the Seahawks. Indianapolis ran the ball on their first 2 plays of each of their first 7 possessions in that game, further indicating that they didn’t trust him to consistently push the ball downfield.
All of this is to say that we should continue to see Pittman be a primary target for Rivers near the line of scrimmage on Monday.
