Best NFL Player Props for Buccaneers vs. Texans and Chargers vs. Raiders

Here are my top player prop bets, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 PM ET on Monday, September 15th:

C.J. Stroud OVER 32.5 Pass Attempts (-102, DraftKings)

Stroud had only 27 pass attempts in Week 1, but it’s worth noting that Houston had unexpected success running the football in that game. Nick Chubb had 60 rushing yards on only 13 attempts, and Dare Ogunbowale added another 9 yards on only 2 carries.

Houston isn’t likely to find that much running room on the ground on a consistent basis given the lack of reliable talent on their offensive line. As a result, they are likely to gravitate towards being more pass-heavy more often than not.

Tonight, there is also the chance that they are forced into a negative game script against a competitive Buccaneers team. There are a number of ways in which we could see Stroud cash this play.

Geno Smith OVER 22.5 Completions (-120, bet365)

Smith has a career completion rate of 72.4% when playing in domes. Tonight, he will get to make his Allegiant Stadium debut in a Raiders uniform, facing a Chargers secondary unit that leaves a lot to be desired.

Last week, the Chargers allowed 24 completions to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. Smith had 24 completions in Week 1 against the Patriots on a day where the Raiders still ran the ball 22 times with their running backs.

Dont’e Thornton OVER 25.5 Receiving Yards (-118, BetMGM)

In Week 1, Thornton was heavily involved in the Raiders’ passing attack, catching a pair of passes for 45 yards on 4 targets. His 10.3% first-read target share was 3rd on the team, trailing only Jakobi Meyers and Brock Bowers.

Bowers didn’t practice at all this week until logging a limited session on Saturday. If he’s limited in any capacity due to his knee issues, it could mean more targets to go around for the rest of the Raiders receivers.

Thornton and Geno Smith have reportedly had good rapport all throughout training camp and the preseason, which was evident in their season opener. Thornton, who is one of the team’s best downfield targets, is capable of crushing this number on a single reception, but he’s likely to be even more involved than that tonight.
