The early afternoon wasn’t the most competitive slate of football we have seen, with 5 games being decided by 20+ points. That being said, NFL fans should be treated to an entertaining Sunday Night Football matchup, with the Vikings taking on Dak Prescott and the Cowboys. Kickoff is set for 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.

Looking at the NFL odds for Sunday Night Football, the market is expecting a Dallas victory, with the Cowboys favored by 5.5 points. The total is set at over/under 43.5 points.

Best NFL Player Props for Vikings vs. Cowboys

Here are my top player prop bets, with kickoff scheduled for 8:20 PM ET on Sunday, December 14th:

Dak Prescott UNDER 1.5 Passing Touchdowns (+170, FanDuel)

Minnesota’s pass defense has been playing at a high level of late. Since Week 9, they have held 5 of 6 opposing quarterbacks to below their season-long EPA/play. They held Caleb Williams, Sam Darnold, and Jayden Daniels to a negative EPA/play.

During that span, Goff is the only quarterback to throw for multiple touchdowns against the Vikings. That means that they have held their opponent to 1 passing touchdown or fewer in 5 consecutive games.

Dallas has a prolific passing attack, but there is value here at significant plus money.

Dak Prescott UNDER 266.5 Passing Yards (-115, BetMGM)

Minnesota’s pass defense hasn’t allowed 200 yards through the air in any of their last 5 games. During that stretch, they have held Jayden Daniels to 78 passing yards, Sam Darnold to 128 passing yards, Jordan Love to 139 passing yards, Caleb Williams to 193 passing yards, and Lamar Jackson to 176 passing yards.

Dak Prescott and the Cowboys are not afraid to sling it, but it remains to be seen how efficient they are throwing the ball downfield in this matchup. The Vikings have done a tremendous job limiting big plays through the air, which should make it challenging for Prescott to rack up yards on Sunday Night Football.

J.J. McCarthy OVER 193.5 Passing Yards (-114, FanDuel)

It took until his 7th career start before we saw J.J. McCarthy post a positive EPA/play in a single game, so this is less a vote of confidence in McCarthy as it is an indictment of the Dallas secondary unit.

The Cowboys’ pass defense has allowed 3 consecutive opposing quarterbacks to exceed their season-long EPA/play against them. Teams seem to have been more aggressive against them through the air since their trade deadline reinforcements have improved their run defense.

McCarthy should have opportunities tonight. Whether or not he’s able to execute – well, that’s why we watch the games.
