Week 14 of Thursday Night Football is shaping up to essentially be a playoff game between the Cowboys and Lions at Ford Field. Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m. ET on Prime Video.

Entering play, both the Cowboys and Lions have 5 losses in a crowded NFC playoff picture, with the loser of this evening’s contest facing a nearly insurmountable road to a postseason berth. Dak Prescott and company have been on a roll since their bye, with 3 consecutive wins – including victories over the Eagles and Chiefs. Meanwhile, the Lions have been spinning their wheels, having lost 3 of their last 5 games.

Looking at the NFL Odds for Thursday Night Football, the market hasn’t completely lost hope on the Lions, though, with Detroit still priced as 3.5-point home favorites. The total is set at over/under 54.5 points.

Best NFL Player Props for Cowboys vs. Lions

Here are my top player prop bets, with kickoff scheduled for 8:15 PM ET on Thursday, December 4th:

Jared Goff OVER 22.5 Completions (+105, BetMGM)

On Thanksgiving, Amon-Ra St. Brown exited after playing only 4 snaps due to injury. As a result, Detroit’s game plan was immediately thrown out the window against a top-10 defense on a short week.

Having had a full week to prepare for tonight’s game against the Cowboys, Detroit’s passing attack should look much better. They also get a much more favorable matchup against a Dallas secondary unit that ranks 21st in EPA/play against the pass since their bye.

Dallas’ run defense has improved since the trade deadline, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see Detroit substitute some of their ground attack with more looks in the short passing game this evening.

Jared Goff OVER 249.5 Passing Yards (-112, FanDuel)

Dallas has improved defensively against the run in recent weeks, but their secondary unit continues to struggle. In each of the last 2 weeks, they have allowed their opponents (Jalen Hurts in Week 12, Patrick Mahomes in Week 13) to exceed their season-long EPA/play.

Hurts threw for 289 yards against the Cowboys, including a 41-yard strike to DeVonta Smith. Mahomes had an extremely efficient 261 yards through the air against Dallas on Thanksgiving, throwing 4 touchdowns.

The market is understandably low on Goff and the Detroit passing attack after what we saw last week, but this is a good bounce-back spot for them on Thursday.

Isaac TeSlaa OVER 2.5 Receptions (-152, FanDuel)

The final numbers don’t scream WR2 for TeSlaa coming out of last week’s matchup against Green Bay, but the underlying metrics certainly paint a very clear picture that he was the team’s top option behind Jameson Williams.

Williams and TeSlaa both ran a team-high 29 routes (96.7% route participation). TeSlaa had a 6.5% first-read target share compared to Tom Kennedy, who had only a 3.2% first-read target%.

Dallas has a much weaker secondary unit than Green Bay, which should afford TeSlaa more opportunities to create separation. It wouldn’t be overly shocking to see TeSlaa have a true breakout game.
