NFL PrizePicks Week 9 Predictions: Patrick Mahomes Highlights Top Plays
In this space, we’ll look at exciting offers on the PrizePicks board for Week 9 of the NFL season and try to make some predictions based on projections, trends, and the market.
PrizePicks, a DFS Pick’em site, lays out player projections for us to stack on a ticket for user-created entries. They prompt us with a statistical projection for a player, and we get to pick whether or not the player will get More or Less than the line offered. There are hundreds of players from whom to choose, and we only have to make at least two picks to create a contest. If you haven’t tried it yet, use the PrizePicks referral code “GRINDERS” to get a deposit match up to $100.
For NFL Week 9, we’ll look at the board and see what usage, gameflow, Vegas, and — of course — our projections can tell us about how players are likely to produce. We’ll look at passing, rushing, and receiving categories most weeks.
PrizePicks Top Plays for NFL Week 9

- Chuba Hubbard MORE than 45.5 rushing yards
- Blake Grupe MORE than 1.5 field goals made
Kansas City vs. Miami Dolphins
Patrick Mahomes MORE Than 282.5 Passing Yards
Usually, the best plays aren’t the sexy sweats, but the best passing yardage line to attack in Week 9 on PrizePicks is Patrick Mahomes.
282.5 is a high line, but we’re talking about Patrick Frickin’ Mahomes in the highest-scoring game of the week. There will be so much pace in this affair against the best offense in the NFL that we should see 40-plus attempts from Mahomes. In games with 40-plus attempts this season, he’s thrown for 305, 281, 306, and 424 yards. At RG, we have him projected for 306.51.
There isn’t a better shot to smash passing yardage than this on the slate. And what’s more fun than sweating Mahomes in a shootout?
If you want some correlation, Tua Tagovailoa is under-projected at PrizePicks for 277.5 passing yards. We have him at 293 on the dot.
PLAY: Patrick Mahomes MORE than 282.5 passing yards
Carolina Panthers vs. Indianapolis Colts
Chuba Hubbard MORE Than 45.5 Rushing Yards
Chuba Hubbard played 40 snaps in Week 8 to the 12 of Miles Sanders. I won’t profess to know what the hell is going on here, but Hubbard has 17 and 20 opportunities the last two weeks. He doesn’t have to be good to hit 46 rushing yards. He just has to be there in a positive gamescript to pay off.
Carolina is a dog against the Colts, but only by 2.5 points — and they are at home — so the RG projection of 64.51 rushing yards seems incredibly legit.
PrizePicks will likely raise this line, so catch it while it’s hot.
PLAY: Chuba Hubbard MORE than 45.5 rushing yards
New Orleans Saints vs. Chicago Bears
Blake Groupe MORE Than 1.5 Field Goals Made
I hate projecting FGs, but Blake Grupe is in a great spot.
He’s second in the NFL with 21 FG attempts. He’s made 17 in eight games. The Saints should have no issues getting deep into the red zone against the Bears for chip shots.
Add that Grupe will be in the dome, and this might be the best spot on the week for multiple FGs.
Another factor that can lead to more FGs is the removal of the Saints’ need to go for it often on 4th down in FG territory, as they’re 8.5-point favorites this week.
