NFL Week 1 Weather Report: Betting and Fantasy Football Impact

Football is back, and it looks like we’re already getting some active weather for NFL Week 1.

This NFL weather article will highlight any extreme temperatures, precipitation, and most importantly, high winds that we could see across the NFL landscape this week.

If a game isn’t specifically listed in this week’s report, that means the weather is quiet enough for it not to be an issue in that particular game.

NFL Week 1 Weather Report & Forecast

As always it’s best to stay up to date with the very latest forecasts, so follow me on Twitter @KevinRothWx and keep an eye on my NFL weather page.

A reminder that while temperature and rain / snow can impact a game, the greatest impact by far comes from high wind games, so I’ll be looking to highlight those spots when possible.

Sunday Main Slate

Houston Texans @ Baltimore Ravens – Scattered showers likely.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Cleveland Browns – Winds around 10mph sustained, which shouldn’t be enough to cause any issues. I’ll keep my eye on it to make sure winds don’t come in a bit stronger, as this is a wind-sensitive stadium, and we’ve seen major wind impacts here in the past.

San Francisco 49ers @ Pittsburgh Steelers – A chance for some rain.

Arizona Cardinals @ Washington Commanders – Scattered showers likely.

Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears – 10mph sustained winds. Light enough not to have any significant impact.

Las Vegas Raiders @ Denver Broncos – A low chance of a shower or storm.

Philadelphia Eagles @ New England Patriots – Scattered showers likely.

Sunday Night Football

Dallas Cowboys @ New York Giants – A chance for some showers.

Monday Night Football

Buffalo Bulls @ New York Jets – Dry with light winds.

Weather Impact on Fantasy & Betting

The big storyline this week is scattered showers and storms moving into the East Coast games (BAL, WASH, NE, NYG). The good news is that winds are still light in all of those matchups, so it’s just a rain issue.

I don’t think rain is usually something that warrants fantasy pivots and / or under bets, especially days ahead of time. If it looks like a true deluge, then we can reevaluate that closer to kickoff. We won’t truly know if it will rain or how much it will rain in each specific game until Sunday morning, so it’s definitely a “stay tuned” kind of forecast. I’ll be posting radar gifs to Twitter as we get closer to kickoff, @KevinRothWx on Twitter.
