NFL Week 11 Weather Report and Forecast - Breezy on the East Coast

lamar-jackson-800x480

Due to heavy snow leading up to the game in Buffalo, it has now been moved to Detroit (indoors).

As usual in my NFL weather forecasts, the main focus is to identify games with high winds or heavy rain. Of all possible weather variables, wind is the biggest detriment to offenses, with a 15+mph wind being impactful and anything over 20mph sustained becoming a major problem for passing and kicking. Rain is another important factor in scoring, in particular heavy rain, which makes it harder to both throw and catch a pass, as well as turnovers increasing across the board. Temperature rarely impacts scoring, so it will only be noted here in extreme cases, like late-season games with temps below freezing. You can use this to your advantage making your picks on DFS sites and sportsbooks.

It’s also worth noting that while winds are fairly predictable a few days out, trying to pinpoint rain over a stadium is difficult even a few hours ahead of a game. NFL Week 11 Weather Report & Forecast

Thursday Night Football – November 17th

Tennessee Titans at Green Bay Packers – Just absolutely frigid, as “The Frozen Tundra of Lambeau Field” is earning the name this week. Temps should be in the mid 20s, with a near 10mph putting the feels-like temps in the mid-teens. Temperature doesn’t have a huge impact on scoring, but it is a slight downgrade. A snow shower or flurry isn’t out of the question either.

Sunday Main Slate – November 20th

Cleveland Browns at Buffalo Bills – We’re all clear now as the game will be played in Detroit, under a roof.

New York Jets at New England Patriots – Cold. Winds should be around 15-20mph sustained with stronger gusts, that will impact a few deeper passes and kicks. Winds will be strongest early and taper off late, and that’s the case for all games on the east coast.

Carolina Panthers at Baltimore Ravens – Cold with a 15mph wind and stronger gusts.

Detroit Lions at New York Giants – Cold with a 15-20mph wind and stronger gusts, longer throws and kicks could be impacted.

Sunday Night Football – November 20th

KC Chiefs at LA Chargers – Perfect weather in LA

Monday Night Football – November 21st

San Francisco 49ers at Arizona Cardinals – In Mexico City! The weather does look fairly quiet here, with about a 10mph wind and dry conditions. It’s worth noting that this game is played at elevation, over 7000 feet (roughly 2000 feet higher than Denver!), which means players could get fatigued easier. I always like the offenses in that scenario, as defensive players tend to wear down late in a game.

Overall Week 11 Weather Forecast

When looking for an edge, I’m always trying to find high winds first, and rain/snow second. With BUF being moved, our only games with any weather impact will come on the east coast, with 15-20mph sustained winds and stronger gusts. That’s not going to cripple an offense, but it could impact some plays in the passing and kicking game. As I mentioned earlier, it’s best to follow forecasts right up until kickoff, so stay tuned to @KevinRothWx for the latest.
