NFL Week 16 Weather Report: Betting and Fantasy Football Impact

Rams QB Stafford

Week 16 in the NFL brings widespread freezing temperatures, plus a few spots with a moderate breeze on top of the cold.

This NFL weather article will highlight any extreme temperatures, precipitation, and, most importantly, high winds that we could see across the NFL landscape this week. If a game isn’t specifically listed in this week’s report, that means the weather is quiet enough for it not to be an issue in that particular game.

As always, it’s best to stay up to date with the very latest forecasts, so follow me on Twitter @KevinRothWx and keep an eye on my NFL weather report.

A reminder that while temperature and rain/snow can impact a game, the greatest impact by far comes from high wind, so I’ll be looking to highlight those spots when possible.

Thursday Night Football, December 19th

Denver Broncos at Los Angeles Chargers – Roof at SoFi Stadium…no issues.

Saturday, December 21st

Houston Texans at Kansas City Chiefs – Temp in the mid-30s with light wind.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens – Temp in the 30s with a 15 mph sustained wind.

Sunday Main Slate, December 22nd

Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals – Temp around freezing, light winds.

Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears – Temp around 30 degrees with a 10 mph wind.

Los Angeles Rams at New York Jets – Temp in the 20s with a 10 mph wind.

Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Commanders – Temp around freezing with a 10 mph wind.

Minnesota Vikings at Seattle Seahawks – Scattered showers possible.

New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills – Temp in the teens…light winds.

Sunday Night Football

Tampa Bay Bucs at Dallas Cowboys – Game indoors.

Monday Night Football, December 23rd

New Orleans Saints at Green Bay Packers – Temp a bit below freezing with light winds.

Weather Impact on Fantasy & Betting

A whole bunch of games with minor impacts. The cold does historically matter to scoring, but not to the level that wind or rain matters. I’m more concerned with games that have the higher winds, like in Baltimore. I’ll also be keeping my eye on the rain chances in Seattle, as well as the downright bitter cold with temps in the teens in Buffalo. I think all of those games can be considered a slight bump down to offense.

In case things change, I’ll be posting radar GIFs to Twitter as we get closer to kickoff: @KevinRothWx on Twitter.
