Week 5 in the NFL brings us our best chances for rain yet, plus 1 game with impactful wind.

This NFL weather article will highlight any extreme temperatures, precipitation, and most importantly, high winds that we could see across the NFL landscape this week.

If a game isn’t specifically listed in this week’s report, that means the weather is quiet enough for it not to be an issue in that particular game.

As always, it’s best to stay up to date with the very latest forecasts, so follow me on Twitter @KevinRothWx and keep an eye on my NFL weather page.

A reminder that while temperature and rain/snow can impact a game, the greatest impact by far comes from high wind, so I’ll be looking to highlight those spots when possible.

Sunday Morning

New York Jets at Minnesota Vikings – In London: Winds around 10mph with a chance for rain late; most models keep the game dry.

Sunday Main Slate

Carolina Panthers at Chicago Bears – Winds sustained around or even a hair over 15mph, with gusts around 25mph. It won’t impact every play, but a long throw or kick could get caught up in the wind.

Indianapolis Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars – Scattered showers and even a few storms possible. I think there’s a good chance we see at least some rain in this game, and at times it could be heavy.

Sunday Night Football

Dallas Cowboys at Pittsburgh Steelers – A line of storms moves through PIT around kickoff. It could bring some early rain, potentially even a brief delay, but the rain will be short lived, and most of the game will be played dry. Winds may briefly increase with the line of rain/storms, but it will be played with mostly manageable winds around 10mph.

Monday Night Football

New Orleans Saints at Kansas City Chiefs – Nice weather for MNF, mild temps, light winds, and no precip.

Weather Impact on Fantasy & Betting

The Jacksonville game has my eye as the game most likely to be impacted by weather. I think it looks downright soggy for that game, and it could slow down the passing attack (and offense in general) of both teams.

In case things change, I’ll be posting radar GIFs to Twitter as we get closer to kickoff: @KevinRothWx on Twitter.
