NFL Week 7 Betting Lines: Browns, Lions Among Best Bets

In Week 6, both the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles were favored by more than a touchdown prior to kickoff, but both teams lost outright to their respective opponents. The Buffalo Bills were favored by more than two touchdowns prior to their matchup against the New York Giants, but it took a goal line stand and the zebras blinking at the opportune time on the final play of the game to escape with a win. Week 7 promises to continue what has been a chaotic and unpredictable NFL season to this point.

This upcoming weekend, there are six teams on their bye week, leaving 13 contests on the slate. Below, we take an early look at betting lines, offering a few leans for the community to consider locking in before odds move!

NFL Week 7 Betting Lines

NFL Week 7 lines last updated 3:10 AM ET Monday, October 16th.
Teams on Bye: Bengals, Cowboys, Titans, Jets, Panthers, Texans

Cleveland Browns (-2) at Indianapolis Colts

As of this writing, the status of Deshaun Watson for Week 7 is firmly up in the air, with him being more likely to sit than to play. However, there were a handful of optimistic reports this past weekend, suggesting that Watson has a chance to return to action against the Indianapolis Colts if he is able to return to practice at some point in the coming days. Currently, the Cleveland Browns are priced as less than a field goal favorite. If news breaks that Watson is trending towards playing, Cleveland is likely to jump to a four- or five-point favorite in this spot. If leaning Cleveland regardless of the quarterback situation, it is best to lock in this play as soon as possible.

Detroit Lions (+2.5) at Baltimore Ravens

Through six weeks of NFL action, there is room for healthy debate as to which of these two teams is more talented than the other. The Detroit Lions are tied for the best record in the NFL heading into Week 7. The Baltimore Ravens are 4-2 and hold sole possession of first place in the AFC North division. Yet, one of these teams, the Ravens, is traveling back from London without the benefit of a bye week for this matchup. Detroit dominated in Tampa Bay on Sunday and appears to be a legitimate contender in the NFC this season. Teams coming back from international affairs are often sluggish early in games, which gives the road underdogs early week value here. Do not be surprised if this contest is priced closer to a pick’em by the time kickoff rolls around.

Washington Commanders at New York Giants, Under 41

Through six games this season, the New York Giants rank dead last in points scored at 11.8 per game. Outside of a second-half explosion in Week 2, the Giants offense has been held to single-digit points in every other contest they have played. Regardless of whether Daniel Jones or Tyrod Taylor is under center in this matchup, New York is likely to be limited offensively. The Washington Commanders have played three games this season that have ended with 40 points scored or fewer. This is likely to be a low-scoring, physical, intra-divisional affair on Sunday. This total could be in the 30s by the weekend.

Los Angeles Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs, Under 50.5

Though Patrick Mahomes and company have earned a reputation for playing in shootouts on a regular basis in recent seasons, that has simply not been the case in 2023. Five of the first six games that the Kansas City Chiefs have played this fall have totaled 47 points or fewer, with two of those contests totaling 27 points or less. The Chiefs defense has been elite to begin the new campaign, allowing the 5th-fewest passing yards per play. They have excelled at getting pressure on opposing quarterbacks ever since Chris Jones returned to the field, and the secondary unit has done a phenomenal job limiting first down conversions through the air. This game might not come anywhere near 51 points in Week 7.
