NFL Week 8 Weather Report and Forecast - Rain possible in Seattle
We’re taking a look at Week 8 NFL weather, and this week the weather likely plays a factor.
As usual in my NFL weather forecasts, the main focus is to identify games with high winds or heavy rain. Of all possible weather variables, wind is the biggest detriment to offenses, with a 15+mph wind being impactful and anything over 20mph sustained becoming a major problem for passing and kicking. Rain is another important factor in scoring, in particular heavy rain, which makes it harder to both throw and catch a pass, as well as turnovers increasing across the board. Temperature rarely impacts scoring, so it will only be noted here in extreme cases, like late-season games with temps below freezing. You can use this to your advantage making your picks on DFS sites and sportsbooks.
It’s also worth noting that while winds are fairly predictable a few days out, trying to pinpoint rain over a stadium is difficult even a few hours ahead of a game. NFL Week 8 Weather Report & Forecast
Sunday Main Slate – October 30th
New York Giants at Seattle Seahawks – The worst of the rain should hold off until after the game, but I still do expect some light rain building in throughout the game, increasingly likely late. I don’t expect it will change much in the gameplan or outcome of the game.
Sunday Night Football – October 30th
Green Bay Packers at Buffalo Bills – Weather looks quiet.
Monday Night Football – October 31st
Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns – Spooky season in Ohio with an in-state Halloween showdown… but there’s nothing too ghoulish with the weather. A chance for some showers, but it doesn’t look like a washout.
Overall Week 8 Weather Forecast
When looking for an edge, I’m always trying to find high winds first, and rain second. In this case the only game with anything worth watching is in Seattle. I don’t think it looks like a washout, so I’m not expecting big impacts, but I’ll be monitoring radar as we approach kickoff. As I mentioned earlier, it’s best to follow forecasts right up until kickoff, so stay tuned to @KevinRothWx for the latest.
