NFL Week 8 Weather Report: Betting and Fantasy Football Impact

tyreek-hill-800x480

Week 8 doesn’t jump off the page as a highly impactful weather week, but there’s still a few games worth watching.

This NFL weather article will highlight any extreme temperatures, precipitation, and most importantly, high winds that we could see across the NFL landscape this week.

If a game isn’t specifically listed in this week’s report, that means the weather is quiet enough for it not to be an issue in that particular game.

NFL Week 8 Weather Report & Forecast

As always, it’s best to stay up to date with the very latest forecasts, so follow me on Twitter @KevinRothWx and keep an eye on my NFL weather page.

A reminder that while temperature and rain/snow can impact a game, the greatest impact by far comes from high-wind games, so I’ll be looking to highlight those spots when possible.

Sunday Main Slate

New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins – A bit on the breezy side, and likely the highest winds of the week, but it’s still very much so a manageable wind. Winds sustained around 15mph, gusts around 25mph. I don’t expect major impacts, but a deep throw or kick could be impacted.

Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers – A bit chilly, but not quite “Frozen Tundra of Lambeau Field” cold, we’ll see temps around 40 degrees with a chance for showers. I don’t expect any impact from the cold, but the rain is worth monitoring.

New York Jets at New York Giants – Rain looks increasingly likely in NY/NJ for our battle of NY.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Pittsburgh Steelers – A chance for showers with 10-15mph winds.

Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos – Freezing cold temps, game played with a temp in the 20s. Heavy snow Saturday and early Sunday, but should just be flurries by gametime. Most notably: Winds remain light, I don’t expect major impacts because of that.

Sunday Night Football

Chicago Bears at Los Angeles Chargers – They’ve got a roof, no issues here.

Monday Night Football

Las Vegas Raiders at Detroit Lions – Another indoor game, perfect conditions.

Weather Impact on Fantasy & Betting

The wind is Miami looks like only a minor concern at worst, so I wouldn’t overreact to the 15mph sustained winds in that game. There’s a chance for rain in Pittsburgh and Green Bay, for now it just looks like a chance for some showers, but I’ll monitor that in case things look a bit heavier.

In case things change, I’ll be posting radar gifs to Twitter as we get closer to kickoff, @KevinRothWx on Twitter.
