NHL DFS Picks: DraftKings Expert Survey for Monday, March 16
Who is your favorite skater to spend up for in cash games?
Moneyball16: Nathan MacKinnon
Joda: Nathan MacKinnon
What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
Moneyball16: Large-field tournaments – I think ownership will be heavily concentrated towards the top players on Colorado and Detroit – teams with good matchups and who have had to lean very heavily on their top players due to injuries. So first of all, if you want to get different, then you have the option to just stay away from those teams. However, the main thing I will be doing is if I am fading Detroit, I will likely have the opposing goalie (Dustin Wolf) in net, hoping for a failed night for the top Detroit guys, which could lead to a nice score for Wolf. The same goes for lineups I make without Colorado players. On a smaller slate, stacking goalies with skaters becomes more viable too. I do not think I will have many random goalies that either aren’t leverage plays against Detroit/Colorado or goalie stacks.
Joda: Large-field GPPs – It is easy to build lineups utilizing Colorado, which is in the best spot on home ice, while utilizing salary relief from Detroit given the injuries to the top-6 guys like Dylan Larkin and Andrew Copp. My favorite pivot off Colorado in tournaments would be the Stars’ top line. The Stars have been sizzling, and Karel Vejmelka has struggled of late, blowing multi-goal leads twice.
Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?
