NHL DFS Picks: DraftKings Expert Survey for Saturday, January 31

Who is your favorite skater to spend up for in cash games?

Moneyball16: Auston Matthews
TastefulTides: Auston Matthews
Hunter4ever89: Connor McDavid

What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

Moneyball16: Large-field GPPs – If you aren’t playing a lineup with STL or EDM, I think their opposing goalies make for a good GPP play that could knock out a lot of ownership with a ceiling game.

TastefulTides: Single-entry and 3-max GPPs are my preferred format. I am going to take an underweight approach to Edmonton today and lean into the some of the other spend-up options like Auston Matthews and Jack Eichel. Don’t forget about the Buffalo/Montreal game; there are pieces of both sides of that game I’ll try and force into my primary single-entry team.

Hunter4ever89: I prefer large-field tournaments for tonight’s slate. The St. Louis Blues will be popular, and I like them against Columbus, a team playing on back-to-back nights. I certainly have no issue playing some Blues in small-field, single-entry contests, but fading them and playing a couple mid-tier stacks will be an easy way to make your lineups unique. Jet Greaves is also a great chalk-busting option in goal tonight, as he has been CBJ’s better goaltender this season.

Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?

Robert Brown (Epignosis)

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
