NHL DFS Picks: DraftKings Expert Survey for Saturday, March 7

Who is your favorite skater to spend up for in cash games?

Moneyball16: Kyle Connor
TastefulTides: Kyle Connor
Hunter4ever89: Kyle Connor

What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

Moneyball16: Large-field GPPs – A day after the trade deadline, it is probably more important than ever to come off autopilot and take a closer look at what lineups teams are playing and examine their quality and their opponents’ quality (instead of just going with your prior opinions from this season). For example, one reason I like the Kings’ top line (and likely the 2nd line too) is that they probably have an underrated matchup at home versus a team that played last night and has their backup goalie in net tonight. Additionally, their 3rd and 4th lines could be filled with dudes that the Kings are loath to play many minutes because of injuries and trades. Depending on the news, that situation could get worse or better throughout the day. The Jets are in a similar situation with a decimated bottom half of the lineup, the Flames have center minutes to fill with Nazem Kadri gone, etc.

TastefulTides: Single entry is my preferred format. The Jets and Kings are really standing out to me, but I think that those teams will be popular. I will be looking to differentiate at goaltender and with one-offs. I will also be excluding Auston Matthews, Macklin Celebrini, and Zach Werenski when creating teams in LineupHQ, our NHL Optimizer.

Hunter4ever89: Small-field, single-entry, and 5-max tournaments are my preferred format tonight. I expect the Winnipeg top line to be the most popular stack on the slate, but there are many lower-owned options to pair them with. I like going back to the cheaper CAR players as well as some mini-stacks from TB, UTA, LAK, and NYI. The WPG 2nd line is also a great pivot away from the top line in large-field contests.

Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
