NHL DFS Picks: DraftKings Expert Survey for Saturday, October 10

Who is your favorite skater to spend up for in cash games?

Moneyball16: Nathan MacKinnon
TastefulTides: Nathan MacKinnon
Hunter4ever89: Nathan MacKinnon

How do you plan to beat the field of opponents in the tournaments you will be playing? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

Moneyball16: Calgary very rarely gets a ton of ownership, and they are always cheap. They have a dream matchup, so they make a good target. The Ducks have been okay when it comes to allowing goals this season through 4 games, but I have no reason to believe they aren’t a terrible defensive team. They allowed the 4th-most goals last season, they lost several of their top defensemen in the offseason, and they are on the 2nd night of a back-to-back. They also played their regular starter last night, and they should have one of the worst NHL goalies in net in Ville Husso.

TastefulTides: There are some really good offensive spots tonight, the most obvious being the Colorado Avalanche. However, they are by no means a must-play team, and there are plenty of other games to choose from. I really like getting to both Ottawa and Montreal.

Hunter4ever89: With most teams having played 4–5 games, it’s time to start digging into trends and comparing this season’s data to last year’s. Throughout the season, I prefer to have a sample of around 100 minutes (or roughly 10 games) when evaluating line combination trends. Since we’re not quite there yet, I’ll compare early-season trends to last year’s data while giving current-season statistics a little more weight than usual. When it comes to identifying potential breakout performances, I’d rather be early than late.

Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?

Robert Brown (Epignosis)

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
