What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
Moneyball16: Large-field tournaments. It will be scary after he has led the league in scoring and has multiple point games in 7 straight, but I will be fading Kirill Kaprizov. He is one of my favorite players, but the truth is that I don’t think he is a significantly different player than last year. His attempted shot rate is slightly down from last year. And at 5v5, the rate of expected goals/60 with him on the ice is down from 2.9 to 2.3, but everything is going into the net around him. The team shooting% is 19.7% in all situations when he’s on the ice this year compared to 12.5% in a similar role for his career.
Hunter4ever89: I will look to play some of these teams with smaller implied team totals in large-field tournaments. I also will not be afraid to take some chances and roster goalies against some popular teams like Carolina. As we have seen many times to start the season, goalies are very high variance. I like Charlie Lindgren a fair amount given his cheap price tag at $7,000. He hasn’t had a huge fantasy game yet, but he has been a solid goalie from a real life point of view.
Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?

About the Author
Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
