What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
TastefulTides: Single-entry and small-field GPPs are my preferred format. I am going to focus on going more balanced when building out my roster. Yes, there are awesome high-end spends, but I think living in the midrange is the approach I will be taking. The Blue Jackets, Canucks, and the Hockey Club are teams I am looking to stack.
boggslite: Large-field tournaments – There are a lot of key injuries, which have many teams limping into the break at less than full strength. This will have me lean into the top talent more than usual, focusing on Auston Matthews and Nathan MacKinnon. UTA/CBJ and VAN/SJ are intriguing matchups with plenty of scoring potential, but I can’t trust them as top options and would prefer targeting them as secondary stacks.
Joda: Large-field tournaments are my preferred format tonight. Even with a healthy 9 games on the slate, the salary-saving options are considerably fragile. Additionally, I am not thrilled about the power-play matchups, so building more mid-tier lineups around lines with favorable 5-on-5 matchups seems solid. Vancouver is interesting. First of all, they seem to have been given a “San Jose Sharks boost,” as all skaters have seen an aggressive $1,000+ price boost since their last game. Even in a great matchup against San Jose, they are the last game on the slate and could be overlooked by those who are price-sensitive.
Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?
