Who is your favorite contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

TastefulTides: Matt Boldy – You aren’t going to get to a lot of Boldy if you are using our NHL DFS optimizer to build your lineups. Now that the Wild are essentially back to full strength, I don’t think people are going to want to build into this Wild team that heavily. I already mentioned how the Utah Hockey Club has taken the 2nd-most penalty minutes in the NHL, so their will be chances on the power play. You can use Boldy as a pivot off of the likely higher-owned Kirill Kaprizov or use them together as part of a power-play stack. We have seen GPP-winning upside from Boldy, and with their key pieces returning from injury, they should be able to move the puck more effectively.

boggslite: Martin Necas – He’s cooled off after a hot start to the season, but he still leads the team in power-play points and has a great opportunity to continue his success on the man advantage facing a depleted Columbus team that ranks 26th in PK% this season. Using him as a one-off or part of a mini power-play stack is my preferred method, and I don’t expect him to get much ownership, making him a solid tournament pick.

Joda: Andrei Svechnikov – Svechnikov has not recorded a multi-point game since December 7th. As a player who runs hot and cold, a look at the box score is not inspiring. However, Columbus is on a back-to-back with the volatile Daniil Tarasov in net. Svechnikov has moved up to the top line alongside Sebastian Aho. Svechnikov is a threat for 5+ SOG and multiple goals in this strong spot.

Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?
