NHL DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Thursday, January 4

Who is your top overall play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?

TastefulTides: Nikolaj Ehlers – When considering price and matchup, Ehlers is easily the top play. A little more appropriately priced on FD, but on DK, you could easily say he is $1,500 too cheap. Even when they are at home, we want to continue to attack the Sharks. They have allowed the most goals at 5v5, and their expected goals allowed tell me this isn’t just a team getting unlucky. The Jets are going to get ownership, especially this top line, so if you do elect to play them, I would be mindful of ownership with the rest of your lineup.

ezellmt: Artemi Panarin – Panarin is riding a modest five-game point streak where he has six goals and two assists despite some tough matchups against the Hurricanes, Lightning, and Panthers. Tonight, he has one of the easiest matchups against a Blackhawks team allowing the second most goals per game, trailing only the Sharks.

boggslite: Artemi Panarin – WPG 1 is the best point/$ play on the slate, but I also really like Panarin’s matchup tonight. Home ice advantage will allow Panarin to draw soft matchups at even strength, and he is a beast on the league’s second-ranked power play, making him a quality option to pay up for in all formats.

Who is your favorite contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
