Slate Overview

“I mean, first and second grade was easy, but social studies, division. This is gonna be tough!” The words of Billy Madison ring true in regard to this slate. Saturday night’s slate was first and second grade, but tonight, we got social studies and division. There are only six games to choose from, and while there isn’t a lack of options, I don’t think it’s quite as straightforward as it appears.

The two teams that pop off the page are the Canucks and Kings, thanks to matchups against two of the league’s two worst teams in the Blackhawks and Sharks. The Canucks have loaded up their top line and are easier to decipher, but the Kings have become increasingly difficult to identify exactly where the scoring will come from. Ownership on the rest of the teams should be fairly evenly distributed, and any expensive stacks that aren’t the Canucks or Kings become instantly lesser-owned.

There isn’t a ton of injury news to monitor, with the most prominent coming out of Winnipeg where Gabriel Vilardi is a true game-time decision. While it would open up some value if he misses, it’s a brutal matchup against the Bruins in Boston, so I’m not that interested regardless.

Let’s get into it.

Elias Pettersson
DraftKings $8,300

Elias Pettersson was already showing signs of turning his season around even before the move, but the shift to wing and playing with J.T. Miller and Brock Boeser has elevated his game to another level. He has goals in 3 consecutive games and 8 points in his last 5 games. I’ve already mentioned the favorable matchup against the Blackhawks. At home, the Canucks will have the second change, and thus, the ability to dictate their matchups throughout the night.
