Slate Overview
Welcome to 2024! Hopefully, you managed to finish 2023 in the green and (unfortunately) will owe Uncle Sam a sizeable chunk of change due to your success. It feels like a good time to do some reflecting and see how things have gone for the first several months of the season. In looking at DailyOverlay.com, a site that grades all of the DFS content out there, it’s honestly pretty wild how incredible our content has been from an accuracy standpoint.
Here are the standings at the end of 2023:
1) RG Core Tags
2) RG Slate Summary
3) Industry Consensus Cash
4) RG Lineup Builder
There are 18 sites/articles graded, and our “worst” is still better than everyone’s best. I’m not saying this to trash anyone else’s content, but it’s a testament to how good our stuff has been. Hopefully, we can keep it going for the rest of the season and continue to see five-figure screenshots in the Discord on a nightly basis.
The New Year gets started with a bang and a 13-game slate. As you would expect with this many teams, there are several standout options, led by the Stars, Predators, and Bruins, all possessing team totals of over four goals. Still, there are an abundance of quality options if you’re looking to avoid some of the chalk. After a mini-break, I’d expect there to be plenty of lineup changes. The biggest injury news is that Kirill Kaprizov will miss some time due to injury, leaving a massive hole to be filled. Bryan Rust will be returning for the Penguins after being out for most of December.
There are some solid contests on DK, including two $20,000 to first contests and another Live Final Q.
Let’s break it down.
Top Skaters
David Pastrnak
DraftKings $9,500
I originally left Pastrnak off the list, but then when the starting goalie was announced for Columbus, I had to come back and add him. He went from a great play to close to a must-play for me. When Elvis Merzlekins is in the net for the Blue Jackets, there’s always a chance he stands on his head and keeps the team in the game.
When Spencer Martin is in the net (like tonight), this is almost never the case. He has a 3.62 GAA and .889 SV%, both dreadful marks. Meanwhile, Pastrnak has five points over his last two games and 10 shots on net over that span. He’s a -135 favorite to have 2+ points tonight, which tells you everything you need to know about his prospects.
