Nashville’s top line gets a ginormous, yuge, bigly break tonight as the Bruins will be without both Patrice Bergeron and Torey Krug. The absence of Bergeron can’t be understated. Last season, the Bruins ranked as one of the stingiest defensive teams in the league, including expected goals allowed at 5v5. Even after the Bruins fired guru Claude Julien, the team remained strong defensively over 27 games, suggesting Bruce Cassidy didn’t rock the system boat too badly. Without Bergeron (and Krug), however, the numbers need to be watered down. A top line of Filip Forsberg, Ryan Johansen, and Viktor Arvidsson would play in all formats sans Bergeron/Krug.
