Notorious' NFL DFS Core Plays: Week 7

Week 6 was almost binary — if you played Derrick Henry, you likely cashed in both cash games and tournaments. If you faded him, you were in serious trouble. As noted in my Sunday update, I was looking for some Titans exposure. My three options were Henry alone, A.J. Brown alone, or both. I ended up picking the worst of the three and using Brown because I felt better about the other running back options. Clearly, that was a bad choice in hindsight. Henry had the best “run potential” matchup in the NFL First Look and is the toughest running back in football to tackle.

It hasn’t been a great year for the main slate, but the afternoon and random two-game slates have allowed me to keep my head above water. We tend to remember the breaks that don’t go our way more than the ones that do, but I will always remember Kenyan Drake scampering for a 69-yard touchdown in garbage time on Monday night. It didn’t lead to a screenshot type of night, but it paid for any losses from the main slates over the last few weeks. If you are off to a bad start this season, keep grinding and keep making good decisions from a roster construction standpoint. I’m always here to answer questions, whether it’s about keeping a positive mindset, contest selection, or individual players for the week. One quick note before we get into the plays for Week 6. The Seahawks/Cardinals game was flexed to the Sunday night game, which moves the Raiders/Buccaneers game to Sunday afternoon. The sites have decided to take different approaches. All three of the main sites have the Cardinals game included in the main slate, while DraftKings and Yahoo decided to add the Buccaneers game to their main slates. This gives us a few more players to choose from on those two sites. This is also a throwback to the old days of DFS when the Sunday night game was included in the main slate. In the past, ownership from the last game was always inflated because people wanted exposure to that Sunday night game. I expect that to be the case again this week, especially with it being such a good game environment for fantasy production.
