Patriots vs. Dolphins Showdown NFL DFS Lineup Advice for DraftKings & FanDuel
Week 2 of NFL DFS is upon us, and although the main slate is over, the Patriots vs. Dolphins divisional Showdown matchup is Sunday’s final chance to take down a GPP on FanDuel and DraftKings. Single-game slates require a unique strategy to make money compared to a regular slate. Thankfully, I’ll be providing NFL DFS lineup advice for every Sunday Night Football Showdown slate.
It’s a divisional matchup between a former powerhouse and a Dolphins team looking to steal their spot up top over the Bills, Patriots, and Jets this season. The Dolphins are slight favorites despite the Patriots being at home in Gillette Stadium. Tyreek Hill had a monster game in Week 1 and is likely to be a feature in lineups for the Week 2 Showdown slate on Sunday night.
Patriots vs. Dolphins Showdown Lineup Advice
The Dolphins played fast with plenty of downfield passes in Week 1, doubling the total of completions over 15+ yards than any other team. They make for a great offense to stack up with two clear top options in Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill to stack up with Tua Tagovailoa. Even the tight end Durham Smythe received 7 targets in Week 1, making the Dolphins passing game a very tempting option for the Week 2 Sunday Night Football Showdown slate on DraftKings and FanDuel.
The Patriots’ defense slowed down Jalen Hurts and the Eagles last week in a tough loss, and their offense didn’t look too shabby either. Considering the pace of the last Dolphins game played, we could see a higher-scoring shootout. Mac Jones showed a fantastic rapport with both Hunter Henry and Kendrick Bourne and also should get DeVante Parker back, cheap options that pair really well with Tyreek Hill in Showdown lineups. There’s one crucial rule I’ll be utilizing in Lineup HQ as I build my teams tonight. In the groups section, I’ll want to make sure I set a new group to have 1-2 of Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill either in the CPT / MVP or flex position in every single lineup.
DraftKings Strategy
The pass catchers are rightfully receiving a lot of love in the DraftKings ownership projections. Tyreek Hill is projected to be in nearly 90% of lineups, either in the flex or CPT position. I like him better at CPT tonight, as his flex ownership is pretty ridiculous. Having said that, I wouldn’t be surprised if I end up with 100% Hill myself. Waddle is much lower owned at the CPT position and comes at a discount as well. I don’t really want to try to “pivot” off Hill to Waddle, I simply want to play them both. Tua Tagovailoa is projected to be under-owned at CPT and is probably my favorite of all the DraftKings picks. I love stacking up the Dolphins’ offense, so using Tua at CPT and pairing him with Hill, Waddle, and Smythe is my favorite way to go.
Favorite CPTs: Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Tua Tagovailoa
Favorite Large-Field GPP Shots: Durham Smythe, DeVante Parker (if he plays), Cedrick Wilson Jr.
FanDuel Strategy
The FanDuel picks tonight come in with a very similar strategy but much different projected ownership at the MVP position as compared to the CPT spot on DraftKings. Since there is no point-per-reception, we’re seeing much more people looking to roster Tua Tagovailoa and Mac Jones. Tyreek Hill is going to be about as popular on FanDuel as he is on DraftKings; however, the biggest difference I noticed in the RotoGrinders lineup optimizer Lineup HQ is that Jaylen Waddle is going under the radar. He currently projects at single-digit ownership at the MVP position, making him my favorite way to get different tonight. Durham Smythe is by far my favorite way to save salary, and I’ll run it back with a Patriots pass catcher and / or Ezekiel Elliott.
