PGA DFS Core Plays: TOUR Championship
Top-ranked DFS player, Notorious, breaks down his favorite PGA DFS picks at various price ranges for this week’s tournament. Who should you be building lineups around? Find out below!
PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Core Plays for the TOUR Championship
While I am certainly more excited about the TOUR Championship than usual, it’s strange that a sport’s “championship” doesn’t mean all that much to the players or fans. There’s a lot of money up for grabs this week in Atlanta, but winning a major championship is certainly more appealing than winning the TOUR Championship. The good news is that the TOUR has eliminated the starting strokes, which means everyone will start at even par this week.
East Lake Golf Club is a par 70 that stretches over 7,400 yards. On a par-adjusted basis, this is one of the longest courses in the PGA TOUR rotation. Thanks to the length, golfers have opted to hit driver as often as possible at this event. The driver usage at this event last year was 86%, which is one of the highest marks of any course on TOUR.

The fairways at East Lake are narrow and tree-lined. With thick rough in play, good total drivers of the ball should have a major advantage this week. The greens here are average in size and feature bermudagrass. They usually measure at least 12 on the stimpmeter, so we can expect them to be fast. The greens in regulation rate is typically around 65% at this course, which means golfers will have plenty of scrambling opportunities.
Course history has been predictive here over the years, so it’s certainly a bonus if a golfer has played well here in the past. In terms of the type of golfer that I am looking for, I want strong drivers of the ball, good iron players, and good incoming form.
We have a break in the schedule coming up. The Procore Championship isn’t until the second week of September, and then the Ryder Cup isn’t until the last week of September. We’ll have content for both, but try to enjoy the small break. Let’s dive into the picks!

Fleetwood works great as a starting point or as the second golfer in lineups this week. Say what you want about his ability to close, but we don’t necessarily need him to win at this price point. Outside of Scheffler, he has the best form of anyone in the field. He has finished T4 or better in 5 of his last 10 starts. He’s 2nd in the field in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green over the last 6 months and is also a top 10 putter. He has plenty of experience at East Lake, so I like his chances of being in the mix once again.
