PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for The Open Championship

Who is your favorite golfer for cash games?

Notorious: Rory McIlroy
stlcardinals84: Rory McIlroy
Jbails26: Rory McIlroy
hondizzle: Scottie Scheffler

Links courses tend to be sensitive to wind. How much is the PGA weather factoring into your process?

Notorious: While I will certainly be monitoring the weather report for my main lineup (potential stack if there’s an edge), I always love building stacks on both sides of the draw at this event. Even if there appears to be an edge for one wave, the weather can change so quickly in this part of the world.

stlcardinals84: You absolutely have to take weather into account. The main defense for these links courses is wind, and the weather in this part of the world can change on a dime. The Open Championship is also an event where they do not utilize split tees, so everyone tees off on the 1st hole. This creates much more variance in tee times and more opportunities for a weather edge. I will absolutely be building stacks that group together similar tee times to try to get the best weather draw that ends up occurring.

Jbails26: Kevin Roth’s initial PGA weather report suggests there may not be a clear edge yet, especially since rain could delay things. I’ll continue to monitor this as much as possible before I make final roster decisions. If there is no clear weather edge, then it likely just makes the most sense to key in on golfers who tend to play well in the wind.

hondizzle: Just like last week, I want to keep an eye on the weather in case we get an edge in the tee time waves. It’s not a bad idea to set aside a small portion of your lineups to stack either side of the wave. Overall, I am not usually a big fan of making stacking my number one priority, but it’s something I will look at closer to lock.

What’s one rule/setting that you’re going to use in our PGA DFS optimizer (LineupHQ) or PGA DFS Sims tool (SimLabs)?

Notorious: LineupHQ > Player Pool > Mn% > Jordan L. Smith (20%), Maverick McNealy (20%), Harris English (20%), Kristoffer Reitan (20%)

stlcardinals84: LineupHQ > Build Rules > Salary $ > $49,800 on DK and $59,800 on FD (In large-field GPP builds, this gives you a much higher chance of getting unique builds.)

Jbails26: LineupHQ > Player Pool > Lock Tommy Fleetwood and Matthew Fitzpatrick (for single entry)

hondizzle: LineupHQ > Player Pool > Mn% > Scottie Scheffler (50%), Matthew Fitzpatrick (20%), Justin Thomas (20%)
