PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for the Wells Fargo Championship

Who is your favorite golfer for cash games?

Notorious: Xander Schauffele
stlcardinals84: Xander Schauffele
hondizzle: Xander Schauffele
ezellmt: Rory McIlroy

Who is your top contrarian golfer (when considering price, key stats, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

Notorious: Tony Finau – His form has been up and down this season, but his ball striking has been very consistent. He’s a bomber off the tee and one of the best iron players in the field. He’s actually pretty solid around the green too but hasn’t been able to make a putt for the life of him. On paper, this course sets up well for his game given his distance off the tee and proximity with his long irons. I’m hoping for a decent week with the flatstick, and he should easily pay off his salary-based expectations.

stlcardinals84: Sepp Straka – I am not sure why Straka isn’t getting more buzz this week, but I’ll happily target him in GPP builds at single-digit projected ownership. He has finished T16 (Masters) and T5 (RBC Heritage) in his last two stroke-play events, and he also had a solid performance at the team event in New Orleans a few weeks ago. Sure, his history at this event isn’t the best, but he has always been a streaky performer and is in strong form right now. He’s a great risk/reward value option.

hondizzle: Viktor Hovland – Recent form while searching for his swing will leave many in the industry taking a wait-and-see approach. The line between playing well and struggling is pretty small for a guy like Hovland. It’s not like he has struggled for a long period of time. Just a few months ago his game was on top of the world. I will always take talent at low pOWN% when possible.

ezellmt: Byeong Hun An – In a field this small, even the “contrarian” options are going to carry some ownership, but I don’t think An’s will be out of control. He has been a ball-striking machine lately and has gained on both approach and off the tee in seven of his last eight events, with the quirky PLAYERS Championship the only exception. His putter is always a concern, but he’s coming off a nice putting week at THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson, where he finished T4. If this course plays even longer than usual, his tremendous length (2nd in the field to Rory) will be a huge advantage.

How are you approaching a limited-field event with no cut the week before a major? Does your strategy change at all?
