PGA DFS Showdown Picks and Projections – Round 3
Pinehurst No. 2 has been an absolute star over the first two days of play. There are pin placements where if you are a few yards too short, your ball will roll off the front of the green. And if you miss your spot a few yards long, you will be over the green. The precision required here (both off the tee and on approach) increases the variance, which is why so many golfers have drastically different scores in their first two rounds.
Ludvig Aberg holds a one-shot lead over Bryson DeChambeau, Thomas Detry, and Patrick Cantlay. Rory McIlroy and Tony Finau are firmly in the picture, as they are only two shots behind heading into the weekend. The 6/6 percentage for DFS ended up being quite high, as many of the popular plays just snuck through at +5. The wind looks a little worse in the morning on Saturday, but the greens will also be a tad more receptive. I’m not expecting much of an advantage for those going out early or late.
