PGA DFS: Round 4 Showdown Picks & Projections - RBC Heritage
PGA DFS Showdown Picks and Projections – Round 4
Scottie Scheffler had to be exhausted after winning the Masters last Sunday. Scottie Scheffler is expecting the birth of his first child at any moment. Scottie Scheffler has finished 1st, 1st, 2nd, and 1st in his last four starts. Scottie Scheffler showed up to Harbour Town late in the week and only got 9 holes of practice in before the tournament. Despite all of that, Scottie Scheffler is the solo leader after the first three rounds. I can’t tell you how impressive this run has been. The crazy part is that this is the complete opposite style of golf than what he needed last week at Augusta National. This is a course that takes driver out of your hand and brings everyone into the mix (especially in the easy conditions).
I’ve been saying over and over again this year — don’t fade Scheffler until he gives us a reason to. Unfortunately, the baby narrative was enough for me to avoid him in my main lineup for the full tournament. Luckily, he’s been a staple of my showdown lineups the last couple of days. Perhaps he’s gassed, but do you really want to bet against him on Sunday? A special shoutout goes to Patrick Cantlay, who missed a 2-foot putt on his final hole to cost me $2,000. I’d like to say it was one of my worst breaks in golf DFS, but I’m not even sure it cracks the top five. When you’ve been playing as long as I have, you hope for the best and expect the worst.
Round 4 should be interesting when it comes to DFS. The course is playing much easier than usual, which lessens the importance of finishing position points. As I mention every week, the difference between 8th and 50th place in terms of finishing position points is less than a single birdie. With ownership congregating at the top of the leaderboard, I love to take chances on golfers that aren’t in contention in hopes to find a solid final round. The forecast is setting up great for this strategy, as there’s essentially no wind expected from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM local time. With golfers going out in twosomes and no split tees, there’s a 6-hour gap between the first and last tee times.
