NBA PrizePicks Predictions Today

Isaiah Hartenstein More/Less Than 22.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists

Hartenstein has been a revelation for the Knicks this season. He’s the reason Mitchell Robinson didn’t simply waltz back into his starting job upon his return from injury toward the end of the regular season. Hartenstein has been a perfect fit as a worker bee in the middle for Tom Thibodeau, even if his counting stats don’t necessarily leap off the page.

Across 75 regular-season appearances, Hartenstein averaged 7.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists. He’s a very low-usage piece in an offense that revolves around Jalen Brunson, though he has upped his scoring average to 10.3 points per game through his first 6 playoff games this season.

The matchup against Indiana should be an interesting one, as Myles Turner could take Hartenstein further away from the basket than he’d typically prefer defensively. These teams play contrasting styles, though I’d expect the Knicks to be able to dictate the tempo as the favorite. Hartenstein did post impressive averages of 7 points, 14 rebounds, and 6 assists during the regular season against Indiana, but we’re only dealing with a tiny 2-game sample.

We currently have Hartenstein slightly on the right side of a minutes split with Robinson, though there is a chance Precious Achiuwa could get a bit more floor time. Regardless, 22.5 combined points, rebounds, and assists feels like a high number given Hartenstein’s limited usage and 26-minute projection.

Jalen Brunson More/Less Than 43.5 Points + Assists

Brunson has been the driving force for the Knicks in their most successful season in decades. While he did struggle a bit offensively early in New York’s first-round matchup against Philly, he came to life in the final few games. In those 6 games, the Villanova product averaged a ridiculous 35 points and 9 assists while logging a whopping 43.8 minutes per game.

Brunson scored at least 39 points in each of the final 4 games of the series, while he topped 40 in the final 3 games. He also posted double-digit assists in 3 of the 6 games, and he never attempted fewer than 26 field goals.

He’s going to have the ball in his hands a ton, and the Pacers have been a fruitful matchup for opposing guards all season long. Indiana’s frenetic pace means more possessions will be available, so Brunson should thrive. In related news, he averaged nearly 36 points per game in the 3 regular-season showdowns against the Pacers.

Anthony Edwards More/Less Than 40.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists

I’ve seen quite a few tweets since the playoffs began comparing Edwards to Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, and I wouldn’t say these analogies are unwarranted. Edwards is blossoming into a superstar before our very eyes, and the Nuggets had absolutely no answer for him in Game 1.

Edwards poured in a game-high 43 points in his 42 minutes on remarkably efficient 17-for-29 shooting from the field. He knocked down several big shots down the stretch and also added 7 rebounds and 3 assists, for good measure.

Ant only averaged 26 points per game in 4 regular-season games against Denver, and we certainly can’t expect him to put up 40 a night for the duration of the series. However, he’s going to play more minutes in these games than he did during their previous matchups, and, as we just saw, he’s obviously capable of topping 40.5 combined points, rebounds, and assists on just points alone.
