After what felt like approximately 8 days off, the NBA Finals are back in action on Wednesday night. The Celtics will bring their 2-0 series lead to Dallas, where the Mavs will desperately attempt to get back into the series. We got word on Tuesday that Kristaps Porzingis is questionable for this game after suffering what sounds like a painful injury, so we’ll see what shakes out there. Even if he plays, it’s worth wondering just how much he’ll play. KP has played 21 and 23 minutes, respectively, in the first 2 games coming off the bench.
Even with just one game on the board, there’s still money to be made over at PrizePicks. Let’s do just that, shall we?

NBA PrizePicks Predictions Today
Luka Doncic More/Less Than 60.5 Fantasy Points
The Mavs looked much better in Game 2 than they did in a blowout Game 1 defeat, but the gulf in overall quality between these teams appears to be rather significant. Luka Doncic is the potential equalizer on the Dallas side. Luka bounced back with a triple-double in Game 2 after he was held to just a single assist in the first game.
Doncic had an easier time finding open shooters in Game 2, but the Celtics’ defensive game plan is pretty clear. They’re content with putting a single defender on Luka and making him beat them as a scorer. Opposing defenses have gotten into trouble in these playoffs by doubling Doncic and leaving shooters wide open elsewhere on the floor.
This isn’t a comfortable play, given Luka’s well-documented ability to rack up fantasy points in a hurry, but I’ll side with less than 60 FPTs for Doncic in tonight’s Game 3. He should do damage as a scorer, but I’m skeptical of his chances of stuffing the stat sheet in other categories here.
- PrizePicks PLAY: Less Than 60.5 Fantasy Points
PJ Washington More/Less Than 14.5 Points
PJ Washington has been a major difference-maker for the Mavs since coming over from the Hornets before the trade deadline. His usage has predictably declined since coming to Dallas, which isn’t a huge shock considering Doncic and Kyrie Irving handle such sizable scoring loads for this team.
Washington has done lots of damage as a spot-up shooter in the playoffs, however. He averaged nearly 18 real points per game in Dallas’ series win over Oklahoma City in the 2nd round, while he was seemingly always open in the corners in the Western Conference Finals vs. Minnesota.
As mentioned, though, the Celtics have done a better job of taking open 3-point attempts away from the Mavs’ secondary threats. Washington is still averaging a healthy 15.5 points through the first 2 games, but he’s done almost all of his damage from inside the arc. That isn’t really his game, so I could see him struggling to get there again tonight if the 3s aren’t there.
- PrizePicks PLAY: Less Than 14.5 Points
Jayson Tatum More/Less Than 42.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists
That the Celtics are up 2-0 in the series despite the offensive struggles of Jayson Tatum is a testament to the team’s depth. Tatum hasn’t been anywhere close to his best through 2 games, yet Boston claimed both games at home without really having to break a sweat.
Tatum has found other ways to contribute with his shot having abandoned him, however. Despite scoring just 17 points per game on woefully inefficient shooting, he’s managed to add 10 rebounds and 8.5 assists. I have a hard time believing Tatum is going to continue to struggle this much in the shooting department, but it’s also unreasonable to expect that average of 8.5 assists to continue.
Dallas is a very capable defensive team these days, which is a major reason they’ve advanced this far. I don’t expect Tatum to shoot 31% for the duration of the series, but I’m even less confident in his chances of continuing to pile up those peripheral stats.
