Rams vs. 49ers Same Game Parlay Picks for Today
Thursday night should not disappoint as the Los Angeles Rams meet the San Francisco 49ers in an NFC West showdown. NFL.com projects the Rams as a coin-flip to make the playoff if they win tonight, while the 49ers are just looking to keep playoff hopes alive. After starting very slowly, the Rams have won 7 of their last 9 games as the offense continues to get healthier. Puka Nacua looked every bit of a superstar in last week’s pivotal victory against the Buffalo Bills. Will Matt Stafford and company keep up the pace against a recovering 49ers’ defense?
Check out our Same Game Parlay Guide before we break down tonight’s game and build a same game parlay for Thursday night.
Rams vs. 49ers Same Game Parlay Preview
At the time of this writing, DraftKings Sportsbook is a bit higher on the 49ers than other sports betting sites. The three-point spread is more than the 2.5 points offered in many other spots. The 49ers righted the ship in Week 14 with a win against the Bears but continue to cling to playoff hopes. With Christian McCaffrey out for the remainder of this season, San Francisco is likely going to need to win out to win the NFC West or a wild card berth.
ScoresAndOdds reports that most of the betting action on tonight’s 48.5 game total was placed on the over. This is not too shocking. The Rams just put on an offensive show. Despite injuries, the 49ers offense can still score points. The injury report offers some rationale for fading the over in this game.
Isaac Guerendo is questionable for the 49ers with his foot injury. If Guerendo can’t play or is limited, the 49ers would turn to Patrick Taylor. Without CMC, the running back involvement in the passing game is seemingly nonexistent — taking away an important dimension to San Francisco’s offense. Trent Williams remains out. On the defensive end, Nick Bosa could return, and the 49ers will activate LB Dre Greenlaw. Greenlaw would see his first game action since his unfortunate injury in last year’s Super Bowl.
The Niners defense is getting a boost. Despite the recent offensive prowess displayed by the Rams, the 49ers could give Matt Stafford fits. Even with the injuries, the 49ers rank 6th in yards per pass attempt on defense and 11th in yards per rush attempt. Greenlaw would be a big boost.
The Rams are pretty healthy coming into this game. Tyler Higbee remains out while Demarcus Robinson is questionable. The Rams offense mostly flows through three players. Nacua, Cooper Kupp, and Kyren Williams are the engines that make this offense move the football. Nacua exploded with brilliant catch after catch against a strong Bills pass defense. Williams received a pile of carries (29) but struggled to get anything going. Kupp saw 9 targets. The 49ers are going to have to commit to limiting these options to slow the Rams down.
For the 49ers, the offensive weaponry of choice without CMC and Brandon Aiyuk seems to be George Kittle and Jauan Jennings. Deebo Samuel is a distant third or fourth option and took to social media to express his frustrations. The 49ers need to find a way to get the ball in Samuel’s hands if they want to keep pace with an explosive Rams offense. That is not to say that Kittle or Jennings don’t have capable hands. Jennings has 25 catches over his last 4 games. Kittle caught 6 passes last weekend for 151 yards. The Rams feature the 30th-worst pass defense in the NFL. I expect Brock Purdy to capitalize through the air regardless of game script on Thursday night.
Both teams come into Thursday with their backs against the wall. The Rams are in a far more favorable situation, but a loss could potentially derail their run back to the playoffs. The 49ers need to win to keep hopes alive. Another divisional loss would make it nearly impossible to leapfrog every team in the NFC West by the end of the season.
Let’s build a same game parlay for Thursday Night Football in the NFC West.
Same Game Parlay Picks for Rams vs. 49ers
- Puka Nacua 80+ Receiving Yards
- George Kittle 60+ Receiving Yards
- Deebo Samuel Over 50+ Receiving Yards
Puka Nacua 80+ Receiving Yards
Nacua has been flourishing since his return from injury. Puka has three games with 100+ receiving yards in his last 4 games and just missed 100 yards against the Miami Dolphins. He shares the workload with Kupp each week, but his piece of the pie tends to be a bit larger.
The Buffalo passing defense is no pushover — previously ranking in the top 10 in yards per pass attempt on defense. This was before the Rams ran roughshod all over the secondary. Nacua’s 12 catches were spectacular, and the offense seemed to get charged up as he accumulated more yards.
The Rams can’t afford any losses. Los Angeles is going to get the ball to their best player. I will buy the line down a bit because we are building a parlay, but I won’t be shocked if Nacua eclipses 100 yards against the 49ers.
George Kittle 60+ Receiving Yards
On the other side of the football, Kittle possesses a much larger offensive role when CMC is out. Without McCaffrey, the 49ers do not use running backs as often in the receiving game. Instead, Kittle gets fed.
Kittle’s target share exceeds 20% without CMC. Last weekend, without McCaffrey, Kittle caught all six of his targets for 150+ yards. Kittle remains a big play threat despite his position — always a threat for big yards after the catch. Kittle has five games with at least a 30-yard catch.
I think we get there tonight against a very, very porous Rams passing defense. Let’s add him to our SGP and hope for a back-and-forth affair.
Deebo Samuel Over 50+ Receiving Yards
Do we have a squeaky wheel narrative in San Francisco? Samuel removed a post on social media expressing frustration with his lack of opportunities in the passing game. While I don’t agree with the approach, I don’t think Deebo is wrong.
Samuel has capped out at 22 receiving yards in his last 4 games. That is egregious. Without CMC and against this passing defense, Samuel must break out. This might be a great chance to buy a ladder, given the low starting point because of his recent game logs.
We feature plenty of passing in our parlay. We might consider adding an over on quarterback passing or points if we want to produce a bigger lottery ticket.
