RG's Taylor Ezell Wins $100K in NHL DFS on Tuesday!
Taylor Ezell told his wife that he had a “greater than 0% chance to win $100,000” before bed on Tuesday night.
That is genius verbiage! Definitely adding that response as an auto-reply when prompted by the significant other.
The final horn of the slate sounded well after midnight. Taylor had exciting news to share, but he didn’t wake her up. Truly another sharp +EV move by our guy!
In fact, Ezell, a true NHL expert and NHL live final winner, took down $100,000 in the DraftKings NHL DFS $300k Spin-O-Rama last night!
He earned three entries to the contest via satellites last week. Pretty cool to not only play your way in – but take it down!
Ezell mentioned on both GrindersLive, and in his NHL slate summary, that his two favorite teams of the night were the Penguins and Jets.

“I got a little creative with the stacking of both, going with a hybrid of some even-strength and power play correlation/exposure. To make it work, I had to go with two value defensemen, including one (Coghlan) that was facing my goalie. Because his value is generally driven from harmless shots on goal and blocked shots, I wasn’t worried too much about the two cannibalizing each other’s production.”
Ezell said Carson Soucy was the true difference maker.
“I would have gone up to his teammate Vince Dunn, but felt ok with Soucy. Oh, and getting a 42-save shutout from your goalie is always going to help out a lineup,” Ezell said with a smile.
Ezell admitted the sweat was essentially nonexistent for most of the night. A ton of other users had more Pens’ exposure in the contest, and the beginning of the Jets’ game wasn’t kind to Taylor’s lineup. Winnipeg didn’t register a shot for 15 minutes, which is unofficially an eternity in DFS time.
“I picked up three assists in the second period and then a goal and two more assists in the third. Meanwhile Coghlan had six shots on goal, which helped both he and my goalie (Hellebuyck).
“Going into the last games, I figured I was set for a solid cash, likely in the 20th to 25th place range. Then Carson Soucy happened.”
As Ezell sat in bed and watched with his wife, Soucy’s first goal sent him into sixth place.
“I told her that he’d likely need to score again, which wasn’t terribly likely. And then he did… At the end, I had an unexpected charge from a Kings’ stack (against my precious Predators) that made me sweat, but it fell short in the end.
“I know better than to wake up my wife at 12:30am, but I did send her a text for her to see first thing in the morning.”
