RG Tournament Player of the Year Leaderboard is Live!
The RotoGrinders Tournament Player of the Year is here and long-time Grinder Naapstermaan has the early lead. The Tournament Player of the Year will measure every player’s top 30 finishes in GPPs of $10,000 or larger and award points based on their place and the tournament size. This offers even the smaller volume players an opportunity to put their name in the highest echelon of daily fantasy players.
Tournament Player of the Year Calculations
We will count your 30 best finishes in GPP’s with at least a $10,000 prize pool starting on January 1st of this year. Each place is awarded points, just like our standard ranking system works. As you earn better scores and bigger GPP wins, your previous scores will be replaced in the top-30. The sum of those top-30 events is your aggregate TPOY score.
The Grinder at the end of 2013 with the most Tournament Player of the Year points will be crowned TPOY and will receive an all expenses paid (flight and hotel) trip to Las Vegas for the RotoGrinders Opening NFL Weekend Party in 2014!
The First Ever Tournament Player of the Year Rankings!
Shown below are the top-50 Grinders on the inaugural TPOY leaderboard. Keep in mind that by earning a top-10 in a $10K GPP you can quickly earn almost 100 points towards this ranking, so you are never out of the race!

As you can see, the early edge goes to Naapstermaan after his huge GPP wins over at DraftKings over the past month or two. His victory in the DK Bank Shot gave him a smooth 1350 points on the leaderboard! Top-10 Grinder PrimeTime420 is hot on his tail though and needs just a few more big GPP victories to surpass Naap for that #1 position.
OTHER NOTABLES:
- #3 AlSmizzle – GrindersLive Host AlSmizzle, who took down the first big MLB GPP on DK and has had some incredible success in GPPs since the start of 2013 stands in 3rd overall, just 1300 points behind PT420 for 2nd.
- #4 Headchopper – As Riley mentioned in the forum post, Chop is the only player in the top 10 who has yet to post 30 qualified cashes! That’s absolutely incredible. With just 24 cashes in $10K GPPs, it’s remarkable that he is still in 4th overall. Big things expected from Chop.
- #9 Jlowery73 – One of the finalists in the prior Tournament Player of the Year model, a more bootleg version where we the RG crew voted for a champion, he is back in the actual math-based 2013 race. His biggest cash being his DSBBC finish back in March.
- #16 STLCardinals84 – STLCardinals is the only player in the Top-20 with less than 10 qualified cashes towards the rankings. He’s definitely a top tier MLB player so look for him to be on the move as the season progresses.
So there are the initial Grinders Tournament Player of the Year rankings. We hope you enjoy and it should get really exciting as September through December come around and the massive NFL GPPs change the landscape of this race. We will also be including these rankings in the normal RotoGrinders Rankings Article each and every weekend, which details the biggest movers and newcomers to the Top-100 ranked Grinders.
