Rise & Grind: Friday, March 27th

Welcome to the RotoGrinders cup o’morning joe. Start your day off right here, as we sort through yesterday’s happenings and take a peek at the upcoming DFS day.

In Case You Missed It

Blown Away – If you decided to try out the free PGA incentives this week, I hope you also saw STLCardinalsfan84’s tweet recommending golfers with later tee times. If not, your golfers were dealing with conditions like these. Golfers who teed off early dealt with sustained winds of 20 MPH and gusts up to 36 MPH. Three golfers actually withdrew because of a combination of injury and frustration. No one from the group did better than even par. If yesterday was your first PGA experience, don’t let the winds blow you away. It’s not always like this.

DFS in Iowa – Do you live in Iowa or know someone who does? If so, Peter and the guys at the FSTA need your help. The FSTA has succeeded in getting a bill introduced to legalize fantasy sports in Iowa. They need your help in urging representatives to vote for it. Just visit this forum thread and click on the link to email your representative. Obviously, we probably don’t have a strong Iowa audience on this site since DFS is not legal there. If you have a friend, relative, or even enemy in Iowa, send them the link and urge them to contact their rep.

wining274 Interview – Yesterday, Grinder LeoTPP wrote an excellent article Reverse Engineering about wining274’s lineup. It’s definitely worth a read if you are interested in roster construction and game theory. Leo also managed to catch up with wining274 for an exclusive interview. It turns out wining isn’t new to DFS – he’s just new to FanDuel this week.

MLB StrategyMLB opening day is a week from Monday. Over the next week, you will begin to see more and more MLB content on this site as we gear up for MLB. One of the new RG experts for this season is Dave “CheeseIsGood” Potts. Dave has been a very successful fantasy player for quite some time. He even managed to win a million dollars in the FanDuel DFBC last year. Dave has an interesting guide on The Transition: Season-Long to DFS MLB. It’s definitely worth the read even if you don’t play season long MLB. There is some solid advice in there.

On The Menu

March Madness – The Sweet 16 continues with four games tipping off tonight at 7:15 ET. If you are still alive in the Survivor tournaments, congratulations and good luck. If you aren’t in the Survivor tourneys, that’s okay, there are plenty of new GPPs to join. Either way, Varncass will have his CBB Grind Down available later today for FanDuel and DraftKings incentive members. You can also join the CBB strategy discussion in our CBB forum thread.

NHL Tonight – I hope you NHL guys enjoyed the influx of NBA money last night. Sadly, it probably will not continue tonight. With just three games on the NHL schedule, us NBA guys will head back to our comfort zone. One Grinder who will continue to play NHL is billsfan777. He will be writing today’s NHL Daily Plays. Give them a read if you are interested in tonight’s NHL action.

NBA Tonight – Last but certainly not least, NBA returns tonight with a massive 13-game slate. Notorious already has his First Look posted. If he manages to avoid carpal tunnel syndrome, he will also have the NBA Grind Down available later today. Besides that, you can also look for NBA Starting Five, Advanced Matchups, GPP Plays, and even an NBA Six-Pack. All of that will then be capped off with three hours of NBA talk on GrindersLive starting at 3:30 ET.

#NarrativeStreet – If you can’t find usable plays in all the content I just mentioned, I don’t blame you. With 13 games tonight, we are at a risk of information overload. We need to find a way to discriminate between picks. Why not let the narratives guide you to a team tonight? For example, Henry Sims has a #BirthdayGame and he is sitting at minimum price pretty much everywhere, Jarrett Jack has a #RevengeGame against the Cavaliers, Kevin Martin and Corey Brewer square off in dueling #RevengeGames and I even have a new narrative for you today. If it seems like Monta Ellis just dropped 38 points on the Spurs, that’s because he did (on Tuesday). Ellis and the Spurs square off again tonight in a #YouGonnaLearnToday match. P.S. credit for the Ellis idea goes to @Ohnjz, and I’m almost positive Ellis might make his advanced matchups article again tonight.

Good luck out there tonight Grinders. I will see you again on Monday. Hope you enjoyed the Rise and Grind this week.
