Rise & Grind: Monday, February 2nd

Welcome to the RotoGrinders cup o’morning joe. Start your day off right here, as we run over yesterday’s happenings and take a peek at the upcoming DFS day.

In Case You Missed It

There was a big game last night – It was of the football variety, and due to legal reasons I can’t tell you the name of the game, but it was a “Bowl” of some sorts, and it was referred to by some as “Super”. Here at the Rise and Grind, we refrain from putting labels on things, but we’ll go ahead and let you know that the game was less than “super” by all accounts, and the commercials were even less so. The general consensus was that people don’t like commercials about dead kids, puppies are always a good bet for a good commercial and that the halftime show featured more costume changes than the Oregon Ducks. “The More You Know”.

Since we didn’t have much DFS goodness to look forward to yesterday, several people took to making prop bets on any and everything they could find. I took the time to go find the results of some of the most popular bets. I know I barely lost the office pool because of Lynch and his lack of crotch grabbing.

- The Patriots covered the spread

- The point total was set at 47.5 – the Over won.

- Tom Brady was the MVP – 8/5 odds

- Brady mentioned his teammates first – those are 3/2 odds

- The National Anthem was a slight over (2:00) and Idina Menzel finished at 2:04

- Belichick got Blue Gatorade

- Lynch scored but did NOT grab his crotch

- And finally: Tails Never Fails

While the superbowl Big Game was boring, the other kind of football had some great performances yesterday, as Arsenal absolutely thrashed Aston Villa 5-0. But, the best move of the day by far was Mesut Ozil’s pass that led to Arsenal’s first goal. I know what some of you are thinking: “Hambazaza, I thought you were a Chelsea fan, why are you awing over a Gunners goal?”. To those people I say: it’s okay, Arsenal has no chance of catching Chelsea at the top of the table, so I’ll give them a shoutout here when they do something interesting.

Big Winners – We know Seattle won the game after Lynch pounded the ball in from the one-yard line on second down the Patriots held on and won the Big Game, but in the DFS world, there were other Big Winners. You should check out our daily tournament links from this weekend though. There are too many winners out there to name them all in this space today, but to each and every one of them: well done!
