Rise & Grind: Monday, March 2nd
Welcome to the RotoGrinders cup o’morning joe. Start your day off right here, as we sort through the weekend’s happenings and take a peek at the upcoming DFS day.
In Case You Missed It
King James – Yesterday, in the battle of MVP candidates, James Harden and LeBron James faced off. The Rockets rode a 33-point effort from James Harden to victory in overtime. After the game, the Rockets posted a congratulatory note to the real King James, which surely won’t sit well with the other “King James”. In fact, you could say it was the second time yesterday a Rocket tried to kick James in the balls.
A Rousing 14 Seconds – In UFC 184, Rondo Rousey needed only fourteen seconds to defend her title against Cat Zingano. The fight began with Zingano rushing Rousey at the opening bell. Rousey blocked the attempt, took Zingano to the ground, and submitted her with an arm bar. All in all, the fight left some fans wanting more, and even asking what is next for Rousey. Some on Twitter even suggested Rousey should fight a man next, possibly even Floyd Mayweather. Personally, I’m disappointed no one mentioned the obvious opponent here. Ronda Rousey vs. Ray Rice in the MGM elevator. Now that’s a fight people would pay to see.
FanDuel King of the Ice – It seems like every other day one of the big sites announce a feature event. This past weekend was FanDuel’s turn. On April 2nd, FanDuel will be hosting the $250K King of the Ice (KOTI). The KOTI is a $200 buy-in with a max of 1388 players. First place will take home $40,000 while everyone who places 236th or better will receive at least $500. Direct buy-in will be available prior to the event, or you can win a seat for as little as $2.
Weekend Winners – This weekend featured several notable winners. For Sunday’s big winners, click on this link or visit the forums. Of the big winners, one name jumped out at me. 2015 TPOY McJester took down the FanDuel WFBC qualifier. If we are being honest, it just wouldn’t be an NBA live final without an appearance by McJester.
The Champ is Here – If you follow @RotoGrinders on Twitter, you may have noticed this tweet announcing Dave Potts aka “cheeseisgood” will be joining RotoGrinders this MLB season. This is huge news. Dave not only won $1 million last year in the DFBC, but he is also a former NFBC champion and all-around MLB expert. Stay tuned over the coming month for more announcements on MLB content for the upcoming season. You won’t be disappointed by what we have in store.
On The Menu
NBA Tonight – Only two days remain until FanDuel’s $1 million NBA Slam on Wednesday. If you want to get in for less than $25, there are qualifiers at $1, $2, $5, and $10 in the lobby. Tonight’s five-game slate is the perfect opportunity to attack a satellite. Notorious has his First Look posted already. The usual offerings will also be available later today, including the Starting Five and NBA Grind Down. We will also have three hours of NBA analysis on GrindersLive.
#NarrativeStreet – While the above articles and podcasts are a great place to find good picks based on research, those picks alone won’t win you a GPP. In order to win a GPP, you need to find players with a little extra motivation. Tonight is a busy night on #NarrativeStreet, as several players are seeking revenge. The Dragic brothers (Goran and Zoran) will be looking for revenge against the Suns. Goran gets the bigger bump since he actually plays. Jarrett Jack will also be looking for revenge against Golden State. Fire up both Dragic and Jack with confidence tonight. Narratives never lie (unless they do).
NHL Tonight – With only three games on the schedule, NHL offerings will be a bit slim tonight. Pepsi7 will have his NHL Daily Plays available later for your clicking pleasure. If you need something to hold you over until then, I have you covered right here. RotoGrinders headquarters is in Nashville. The Nashville Predators play the New York Rangers, who are always a worthy target in my opinion. Check the max number of players per team on the site of your choice, then select that many Predators and thank me tomorrow.
College Basketball Tonight – There are a little over two weeks until March Madness begins. You will want to win some Survive the Madness Tickets on FanDuel and March Mania Tickets on DraftKings. Tonight’s four-game slate offers a chance to do that. Be sure to check back this afternoon for Varncass CBB Expert Picks for incentive members.
With that Grinders, I have to bid farewell for today. I hope you enjoyed today’s update and I thank you for starting your week off right here at the Rise and Grind. See you tomorrow!
