Rise & Grind: Monday, March 9th

Welcome to the RotoGrinders cup o’morning joe. Start your day off right here, as we sort through the weekend’s happenings and take a peek at the upcoming DFS day.

In Case You Missed It

Mad Max – On Friday, Grinder maxdalury pulled off one of the more impressive multi-entry feats. Max entered the DraftKings Micro Millions Main Event 400 times and cashed 295 of those entries. His cashes included 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 7th times two. Now before you say: “Anyone could do that with 400 entries” let me stop you. Another user did try the 400 entry approach and yet another player had 271 entries. Both of those players busted out. For a detailed breakdown of the tournament, give ChrisGimino’s blog a read here. His blog is worth your time if you are curious about multi-entry.

Other Winners – While maxdalury stole the spotlight, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Grinder devobrain, who claimed second place right behind max. In the $100K 3-Ball, Zach from StarFantasyLeagues (SFLZach) claimed first while rayofhope claimed second. For the rest of Friday’s winners click here. On Saturday, Grinder shark1983 claimed second in the Slam while Yukerboy took third. In the world of micro-grinding, RG Editor LeoTPP claimed ninth in the Shot (sorry, had to mention it – he’s one of my bosses). On Sunday, Russell Westbrook went nuts, again, so pretty much everyone won. Okay, I’m kidding, everyone didn’t win. Just the people who don’t make stupid decisions like fading Westbrook. The full list of winners is here.

Chef Curry – Have you ever wondered how many Clippers it would take to stop Steph Curry, aka “Chef Curry”? Well, based on that gif over there, the answer is more than four. Due to size constraints, I had to cut the end of that video off, but trust me he makes the shot. If you would like to see the full YouTube clip, it’s right here.

DraftKings Baseball is Back – What else happened this past weekend? Oh yeah, DraftKings posted a few MLB contests. By a few, I mean over $1 Million Dollars guaranteed on opening day! If you are reading this at work, stop right now and ask your boss if you can have Monday April 6th off. If he/she says no, start looking for a new job. They clearly don’t care about you anyways. What kind of company makes their employees work on opening day?

Just for Fun – Shoutout to Al_Smizzle for bumping this DFS Look-alike thread. There are some good ones in there. If you have one of your own to add, feel free. In order to post an image, just add an exclamation point before and after the link. Despite my best attempt, I couldn’t find a good look-alike for Al. Maybe you can.

On The Menu

On the Ice – The DFS gods are not offering us a plethora of options tonight. Our choices are pretty much NHL (5 games) or NBA (8 games). If the former suits you, be sure to check back later today for Pepsi7’s NHL Daily Plays. If you can’t wait that long, it’s okay. I got you. The Detroit Red Wings moneyline is -308 against Edmonton. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that whoever plays goalie for Detroit (most likely Howard) would be a good choice. While you are at it, might as well stack up the DET first line. Start your team with Howard, Glenden, Datsyuk, and Tatar. That’s $26,200 in salary cap used. You can fill in another RW, two LW, and two D with the rest. See how easy NHL is?

On the Court – With eight games on the menu, the NBA offers a larger than normal slate for a Monday. Notorious already took a peek and has his First Look posted already. Later today, the usual offerings will be posted, including the Starting Five and the NBA Grind Down. Those both sound like great places to get advice. What you really need to know is if there are any picks with a little extra motivation tonight. Don’t forget to check out GrindersLive today too!

#NarrativeStreet – Go ahead and start all your teams with Matt Barnes tonight. It’s a #BirthdayGame. Even though many will avoid Memphis/Chicago tonight, you shouldn’t. We have a #SiblingRivalry as Marc and Pau Gasol square off to determine who is the favorite son. In fact, tonight’s official R&G gimmick lineup will feature same named players. Fire up this lineup on DraftKings and profit.

PG – Goran Dragic
SG – Gerald Green
SF – Jeff Green
PF – Pau Gasol
C – Marc Gasol
G – Zoran Dragic
F – Markieff Morris
UT – Marcus Morris

NFL Free Agency – It’s a slow day in the DFS world with only two sports running. That means I can use this spot to mention NFL Free Agency, which starts tomorrow. The three-day legal tampering period began on Saturday. Teams can agree to a deal with players but not officially sign them until tomorrow. So far, some big names have moved, including Suh to the Dolphins, Maclin to the Chiefs, and Gore to the Eagles. Comment below with your favorite move that has happened so far, or one that you are hoping happens. I’m an Eagles fan, so I hate the Maclin to Chiefs move both as a fan and a DFS player.
