Rise & Grind: Thursday, April 9th

Welcome to the RotoGrinders cup o’morning joe. Start your day off right here, as we sort through yesterday’s happenings and take a peek at the upcoming DFS day.
In Case You Missed It
DraftKings Millionaire Maker – As of 730ET this morning, the first ever PGA Millionaire Maker is off and running. First and foremost, congratulations to DraftKings for filling the event. Grinder baseballs has a breakdown of the entries in this forum thread also thanks to headchopper for this golfer ownership breakdown. There were 33,768 users who entered at least one lineup. If you are a PGA rookie, the most important thing to remember is not to check your teams until at least Saturday night. There is nothing more tilting than seeing “currently winning $1,000,000” and watching it fade to $0. The good news is that if you don’t win this time, you can try again in the next Millionaire Maker, June 18th for the U.S. Open.
Tilt Like A Pro – As I mentioned above, 33,768 people entered at least one PGA team. Many of those people are like myself and rarely play PGA. In an effort not to look like a noob, I set out on a journey to the Twitterverse to learn how to tilt like a pro. From what I’m seeing, PGA shot tracker is a must. When crazy things like this happen you sit back in amazement, wondering how Chad Collins hit a shot 72,725 yards into the unknown. Or when situations like this happen, you need to opine on whether or not Woodland is a good last name for a golfer. If you are out there tilting today, feel free to tag me @SethayatesDFS. I will try to feature some of your witty musings in tomorrow’s R&G.
Dong Report – Conditions weren’t ideal in most places, but that didn’t stop MLB hitters from hitting 22 dongs yesterday. Adrian Gonzales had the rarely seen triple dong as he hit three round-trippers off Andrew Cashner. The longest dong belongs to a different Gonzales though, as Carlos Gonzales blasted one 461 feet. The shortest dong belongs to Carlos Santana at 346 feet (thank you Minute Maid park). The top stacks of the day were Detroit, Colorado, and Oakland.
Finally Some Brewers Fireworks – If you have been on the Brewers stack against the Rockies pitching all week, you have been waiting for the fireworks. This probably wasn’t what you had in mind though. I have heard of trying to distract players during critical moments, but this was a home game for the Brewers. I guess I can’t blame them though, the fans paid to see some fireworks, one way or another they deserved to see them.
Hoops Report – While NBA has been relegated to DNP-Grinder’s Decision for most, we still had a 13-game slate last night. Interesting things happened such as Anthony Davis putting up 25.5 FanDuel points, Nerlens Noel playing only 24 minutes as nine 76ers played at least 17 minutes, and Gerald Green leading the Suns in scoring with 30 points off the bench. Sure, these things always happen. Now we have options, though. Not necessarily tonight though. We only have two NBA games, and only two MLB games start after 7ET. We will get to that in just a minute though.
On The Menu
MLB Today – Yes, you read that right today! We have nine games today, but six of them start prior to 640ET. For most, that means mobile lineup building from the office. Hopefully, RotoGrinders isn’t blocked at your work. If it is, I’m confused how you are reading this. Maybe you are just really dedicated and read from your phone. Anyways, regardless of how you are accessing this, head on over to the MLB Grind Down once you are finished here. Notorious has his thoughts on every game. Also, come back around 11ET for GrindersLive with Pepsi7 and Dean78904. They will have thoughts on every game and get you prepared for the 12ET lock.
NBA Tonight – With so much else going on, tonight’s NBA slate looks less than appetizing. If you are still hanging on to memories of how it used to be, there is a two-game slate for you. Notorious has his First Look posted already. There will even be a 430ET GrindersLive with Dean78004 and Hoop2410. That should be very entertaining, and my guess is that it turns into a combo MLB/NBA show.
NHL Tonight – The main action for tonight is on the ice. With eleven games on the schedule, you can look forward to a full slate with content here at RotoGrinders. That will include Daily Plays and The Daily Fantasy Face-Off on GrindersLive at 530ET.
The Bottom Line – It’s going to be an interesting day in the DFS world. It feels like all is right in the world, if only for a few days. Well rounded DFSers can sweat PGA, MLB, NBA, and NHL all in the same day. As always, the experts here at RotoGrinders have done most of the grunt work for you. Keep in mind though that the experts picks and projections should confirm your own work. If you are struggling or need help learning a new sport, don’t be afraid to ask. Post a forum thread like this one with your lineup (after lock) and your thought process and let others critique it. In the same way that iron sharpens iron, Grinders sharpen Grinders. Good luck out there today, and as always see you tomorrow!
