Rise & Grind: Thursday, February 5th

Welcome to the RotoGrinders cup o’morning joe. Start your day off right here, as we go over yesterday’s happenings and take a peek at the upcoming DFS day.

In Case You Missed It

The Dallas Mavericks are first quarter champions, after running out to a 24-4 lead against Golden State Warriors courtesy of some amazing plays by Chandler Parsons and JJ Barea. Of course the game ended up getting cancelled, so we’ll never know how badly the Mavs would have beaten the Warriors on their home floor, the Warriors came back and beat the Mavs by 14 points, thanks to Raymond Felton and Charlie Villanueva Stephen Curry and his dazzling 60.8 fantasy point performance.

There were lots of other monster scores last night, including but not limited to Russell Westbrook running through things masquerading as defense, and the Bucks collective led by, Khris Middleton, defeating the Lakers in overtime. And before we forget, there was also this. Thanks to the genius of Norris Cole and Hassan Whiteside for giving us this moment.

With monster scores come monster paydays, and none was more monster than that by long time grinder @msidla, affectionately referred to as our favorite school teacher, He managed to take down over $60,000 in the Mega Slam last night on FanDuel with three scores in the top 10. In FanDuel’s $2 qualifier to their live final, Mike81 managed to sneak by the large field and take first place thanks to big games by Steph Curry and Hassan Whiteside. Over on DraftKings, GrindersLive host and professional money-winner, CSURAM88, managed to secure himself a seat to the Fantasy Basketball World Championships in Las Vegas in the $1000 buy-in tournament. Congratulations to all the winners.

#NarrativeStreet – Yesterday’s narrative street candidates slightly disappointed, as Monta Ellis apparently doesn’t care to have it all against the Warriors anymore and DJ Augustin’s sort of revenge constitutes putting up 20 fantasy points against former team and making everybody who rostered him regret the decision. Tonight, we have a different sort of narrative street, as we have the Dallas Mavericks at the Sacramento Kings. Darren Collison is still angry that Carlisle didn’t want to start him and will probably try to dominate the Mavs.

What to Watch For

Four-game slate in the NBA, which is less than ideal, but the games are juicy. Clippers at the LeBrons, Mavs at Kings, Suns at the Blazers, several games that will be intriguing, Also, the sites have made it worth our while to play tonight’s slate. FD has a $250K, $25 Slam, a $150K, $2 Shot, a $100K, $200 Monster and a $25 Qualifier to their live final. Over on DraftKings, we have a $115K, $20 Crossover, a $100K, $300 Three-Ball and several satellites to the $1000 qualifier tomorrow night for their FBWC final.

The Ice Man Commeth – Or at least, a bunch of men skating on ice chasing a puck and trying to score goals while pummeling each other into plexi-glass walls. The NHL is back today in a big way – there are nine games on the slate and there are several tournaments that will get you excited. We’ve got a $25K, $2 Breakaway, a $10K, $25 Goal, and a $100 qualifier to their live NHL final. Over on DraftKings, there is a $18K, $27 Face-Off, a $15K, $300 Triple Deke and a several satellites to the $1000 FHWC qualifier on Saturday.

PGA is back – I already mentioned this yesterday, but there is some PGA golf today, so get some lineups in and get a sweat going before the NBA sweat tonight. There is nothing like a golf sweat since it lasts the whole weekend, and things can change in a hurry with the extra points jumping all over the board. It’s lots of fun. Lineups lock at noon ET, so make sure to get in some action.
