2023 RSM Classic Weather Forecast and Projections
We’re teeing off for the RSM Classic this week in Sea Island, GA, and both rain and wind will likely play an issue.
As usual in my Golf weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps soften and slow the course, which helps as much as it hurts. With wind, there’s no helpful side; it’s all negative impact. And the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try and highlight the time frame with the lightest winds, the time with the strongest winds, and to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another. You can then use this to your advantage when making your picks on DFS sites and sportsbooks.
RSM Classic Weather Forecast
Thursday, November 16th
Just kind of a nasty day all around. Scattered showers possible at any point in the day, with winds around 10-15mph sustained and gusts around 25.
Friday, November 17th
Friday starts breezy with a few showers, but winds should drop off during the afternoon to around 10mph sustained with dry weather.
Saturday, November 18th
We dry out over the weekend, with winds around 10mph.
Sunday, November 19th
Not a bad way to finish things out, dry with 10mph winds.
RSM Classic Weather Thoughts
As I mentioned in the intro, when it comes to finding a usable and predictable edge for PGA, wind matters a lot more than rain. In the case of the RSM Classic, the all-AM tee times takes away any real edge we might otherwise have. Thursday is an ugly day all around, whereas Friday afternoon is better for golf than the morning. Stay tuned to @KevinRothWx for the latest.
