Primetime Parlay: Saints vs. Rams Same Game Parlay Picks
Thursday Night Football brings an NFC matchup between the Saints and the Rams. We can build a same-game parlay on FanDuel Sportsbook with another primetime matchup.
While the Saints and Rams are no longer premier teams in the NFC, both teams need a victory in Los Angeles tonight to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Rams hold the final Wild Card spot in the playoffs but share that spot with three other teams. The Saints are tied with the Buccaneers for the best record in the NFC South but do not currently hold a tiebreaker. A win for New Orleans would help both the probability of winning the division and the final Wild Card spot. Let’s break down the game ahead before building an SGP on FanDuel.
Saints vs. Rams Same Game Parlay Preview
The Rams are a 4.5-point home favorite on Thursday night on FanDuel Sportsbook. Per ScoresAndOdds, more than 80% of tickets and betting handle have bet on the Rams since the line opened. At the time of this writing, the implied game total is 46.5 points — up two points since opening. An overwhelming 79% of tickets bet the over on this line, while about 65% of the betting handle agreed. Sports betting sites and bettors are telling us to expect points this evening.
And, why not? The Rams offense has been on fire at full health — scoring 31.7 PPG over their last three games. The weapons are abundant, and Kyren Williams appears to be the next in line of running backs aided by Sean McVay’s offensive scheme. The Rams will return Tutu Atwell from his concussion and Ronnie Rivers from IR.
The Saints will play without RT Ryan Ramcyzk, who continues to rest a nagging knee injury. Chris Olave, though, was cleared to play and will return after missing last week’s matchup against the Giants. Olave will slot back in as the top option for Derek Carr.
Here is a look at the rest of the offensive statistics for both teams ahead of tonight’s matchup:
Los Angeles Offense
9th — 23.4 PPG
8th — 5.5 YPP
12th — 7.1 Passing YPA
8th — 4.4 Rushing YPA
New Orleans Offense
12th — 22.1 PPG
21st — 5.1 YPP
21st — 6.8 Passing YPA
29th — 3.7 Rushing YPA
The Rams offense will face a stiff test in the New Orleans defense. That said, with the weapons at his disposal, Matt Stafford could be in for another big game. Cooper Kupp is healthy. Puka Nacua is a budding star. Kyren Williams is electric. Even DeMarcus Robinson is playing well. The Rams will be tough to stop.
The Saints could be the team to extinguish the recent offensive firestorm the Rams bring each week. New Orleans only allowed 5.0 yards per play, with the key strength being a great pass defense. The Saints only allow 5.7 passing yards per attempt. That said, those numbers are a bit muddled because of the competition in the NFC South. The Rams seem to be a cut above the offenses the Saints are accustomed to stifling.
Los Angeles is a bit better against the run than the pass. Derek Carr is very likely going to have to throw the football a lot tonight. To keep up with the Rams, Carr will likely attempt plenty of passes. Taysom Hill returned last week but saw limited action. Only Dennis Allen knows how big a role Hill will play in tonight’s game plan. With the Rams being far more effective against the run, the Saints might lean on Derek Carr and his pass catchers.
The New Orleans scoring defense has been great over the past few weeks. Allowing only 15.0 PPG, the Saints will hope to keep this a low-scoring affair. The Rams defense has been far more generous — allowing 25.3 PPG over the past three weeks.
With the game indoors and a plethora of offensive options, I think we might be in for some fireworks. Let’s see what ParlayIQ makes of tonight’s game.
Same Game Parlay Picks for Saints at Rams
- Carr Over 227.5.5 Passing Yards
- Olave Over 60.5 Receiving Yards
- Williams Over 89.5 Rushing Yards
Derek Carr Over 227.5 Passing Yards
We have been here before. Derek Carr and his passing yards, again. Are you worrried?
I am definitely worried. Carr has let us down in the past. Whether an injury or too much Taysom Hill, Carr has not been the most successful player in the props market for me in the 2023 season. That said, this matchup seems perfect for a lot of passing.
Personally, I prefer the over on his completions (as does ParlayIQ). However, FanDuel will not allow that prop to be selected for an SGP. We will settle for passing yards in a game that hopefully shoots out in Los Angeles.
Chris Olave Over 60.5 Receiving Yards
If Derek Carr is meant to have a big night, his primary option his should be in the mix. Chris Olave sits in the top 15 in targets in the NFL despite missing time. Before the injury in his previous game, Olave came off back-to-back 100+-yard performances. If we assume this game could shoot out, Olave should be the beneficiary.
Logically, if we open with Carr’s passing over, Olave would go over his prop in a high percentage of simulations. I think this seems like a very smart and correlated play for tonight’s ticket.
Kyren Williams Over 89.5 Rushing Yards
Finally, I am going to target one of the most explosive players of the 2023 season against one of the opposing defense’s only weaknesses. The Saints surrender more on the ground than they do in the air, and Kyren Williams is going to get so many carries.
Last weekend, Williams toted the ball 27 times en route to another huge game. While he is a capable receiver out of the backfield, that is not Williams’ strength. Even if this game shoots out, Williams can exceed this number while the Rams complement his rushing with passing.
Saints vs. Rams Parlay Odds
- Derek Carr Over 227.5 Passing Yards
- Chris Olave Over 60.5 Receiving Yards
- Kyren Williams Over 89.5 Rushing Yards
