Wild Card, Saturday – NFL Player Props
- Quentin Johnston Over/Under 43.5 Receiving Yards
- Diontae Johnson Over/Under 11.5 Receiving Yards
- Derrick Henry Over/Under 20.5 Rushing Attempts
Quentin Johnston OVER 43.5 Receiving Yards (-110, DraftKings)
Head Coach Jim Harbaugh could not stop saying positive things about Quentin Johnston this week when talking to the media. He praised Johnston for “making the most of his opportunities,” commented on his growing confidence, and raved about his continued development throughout the course of the regular season.
Johnston had 13 receptions for 186 receiving yards in the team’s Week 18 victory over the Raiders. It marked his 5th consecutive game with 6+ targets and the third time in his last four games that he had seen 8+ targets. On Saturday, Johnston gets a favorable matchup against a Houston pass defense that has been vulnerable to explosive plays this year. Johnston is the Chargers’ primary deep threat with Josh Palmer out, and he’s seen increasingly more targets near the line of scrimmage as well. He should have plenty of opportunities to get the job done against a Texans’ secondary unit that will be missing multiple starters.
Diontae Johnson OVER 11.5 Receiving Yards (-125, bet365)
In stark contrast to his previous stops this season, Diontae Johnson seems to be getting along well in Houston – at least so far. Head Coach DeMeco Ryans told the media earlier this week that Johnson has been “a pleasure to work with,” and repeatedly highlighted how much talent Johnson brings to the table at the wide receiver position.
Houston is in desperate need of someone to offer something in the passing game outside of Nico Collins. Johnson had 4 targets in Houston’s Week 18 game against the Titans and appears to be in line for an even larger workload on Saturday against the Chargers. This is a very low market number for a player who has 3 games with 78+ receiving yards this season.
There is obvious risk here for obvious reasons, but talent has never been the issue. If Johnson sees an increase in snap count, this line is grossly mispriced, as are his alternate lines; bet365 has Johnson +1600 to have 70 receiving yards as of this writing, which could be worth an additional sprinkle.
Derrick Henry OVER 20.5 Rushing Attempts (-114, FanDuel)
Head Coach John Harbaugh has been vocal this week about his desire to run the football during the postseason. His offensive coordinator, Todd Monken, echoed those statements on Thursday, telling the media that the run game is the start of everything Baltimore tries to do on offense, going further to say that “You control the game with being able to run the football… and it sets everything else up that you do.”
Derrick Henry has 8 games this season with 20+ rush attempts, so he’s no stranger to large workloads. It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Ravens give him all he can handle in the team’s opening round matchup against the Steelers, against whom he ran for 162 yards in December.
