2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions Weather Forecast and Projections for Kapalua Resort
We’re teeing off for the Sentry Tournament of Champions this week, and as usual on this course, the wind will play a role.
As usual in my Golf weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps to soften and slow the course, meaning it helps as much as it hurts. With wind there’s no helpful side, it’s all negative impact, and the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try and highlight the timeframe with the lightest winds, the time with the strongest winds, and to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another. You can use then use this to your advantage making your picks on DFS sites and sportsbooks.

Sentry Tournament of Champions Weather Report & Forecast
Round 1 Weather Projection – Thursday, January 5th
Here is your one “nice” day. Winds start relatively mild, around 5-10mph, and climb to 10-15mph by the mid-afternoon. Considering the location, those are tame numbers.
Round 2 Weather Projection – Friday, January 6th
Wind picks up in a hurry for day 2. Morning winds will be around 10-15mph, with afternoon winds 15-20mph (gusts 25mph). Those afternoon winds will likely be impactful to play.
Round 3 Weather Projection – Saturday, January 7th
Looks very similar to the weather Friday, dry but breezy all day, with peak winds coming in the afternoon around 15-20mph.
Round 4 Weather Projection – Sunday, January 8th
A bit better to close things out, winds peaking around 10-15mph in the afternoon.
Overall Sentry Tournament of Champions Weather Forecast
As I mentioned in the intro, when it comes to finding a usable and predictable edge for PGA, wind matters a lot more than rain. In this case the peak wind timeframe comes Friday afternoon. Stay tuned to @KevinRothWx for the latest.
