Stevie's NASCAR Package Breakdown

Article Image

Recently I’ve been asked what the NASCAR package entails, and why are you charging for it.

First I’ll answer the question about putting it in the Daily Marketplace. I’ve wanted to do more with the NASCAR product for so long, and this opportunity allowed me to do it. You’ll see in this article; this is much more than just picks like I’ve been doing all season.

What is the NASCAR package? That’s why I’m here today, and why I’ve decided to write this article. For anyone who tried it this weekend, I appreciate it, and if you didn’t, I’m here to show you what’s inside.

Practice Notes

We will start with one of my favorite things about the NASCAR package, practice notes. Each week I’ll be breaking down every practice after qualifying. This past weekend we had two practices after qualifying. The first practice of the practice break down is a notes section. I’m listening to as much info as I possibly can, and going through all the NASCAR twitter info I can find. In this section, I’m writing down notes I think will help me build my lineups. One of the notes this weekend, “Stenhouse spin (cold track with no grip)”, I’m just reminding myself, and the reader, is spin was due to a cold track with no grip.

10-Lap Average, Practice Notes

The second part of the practice notes, is the 10-lap average notes section. This is right under the notes from above, and is by far one of the most valuable things in this entire NASCAR package. Above I’ve posted the picture from the final practice from this past weekend. In this 10-lap average notes section, I revisit picks I’ve wrote up in my articles, and point out everything that has stood out to me throughout practice. I note here, “I had Kevin Harvick in the cash section of my article, and I’m sticking to that call”, then I talk a little more about it. This section is the most valuable process to my research each week, and I’ve included it in my NASCAR package. To me, this is the most important part of the entire package, and well worth paying for.

Cash Picks

If you’ve read my By The Numbers article this year, then you’ll recognize the difference with this article. I wanted to go more in-depth with my article, and now I’m showing you exactly where I’m starting my cash lineup. Things can change before the race, but this is a great starting point. I talk about the three cash guys I’m going to be building around, and go into it more that anyone else in the industry. The weekly preview article talks about the strategy I’ll be targeting for the weekend, and then I take it full circle with my article.

GPP and Value Picks

For two years now, I’ve been asked why don’t I separate my cash and tournament picks. If you’ve asked me that question, you’re in luck because the new article does that. On top of writing up three cash game options, I’ve decided to also write up three guys I like for GPPs. This weekend they were all high priced dominator plays, but that will change from week to week. Not to pat myself on the back, but how about that Kenseth call, he was low owned in the $27 too.

There’s also a value drivers section. This section will talk about guys who present value, and could be in play for all formats. Bowyer and Almirola both ended up on my cash game lineup this past weekend, and were two of my highest owned GPP plays. The article has gone from just five picks, to an in-depth look at eight total drivers.

Driver Rankings

This is the part I got the post feedback on this weekend. People absolutely loved the new rankings section. In this section, we have four different tiers ranking all 40-drivers. We have the high priced guys $9,500+, the annoying sweet spot range $9,400-$8,000, the mid tier value guys $7,900-$6,500, and the value/punt options below $6,500. Every driver will be ranked, and this should help with a lot of the one vs. one question that I get. The rankings are done after final practice each week, and they’re ranked exactly how I like them based on value. I had Truex and Harvick as my top two plays this past weekend, and I feel like both drivers exceeded my value expectation. If you want to build lineups fast, this is a great way to do so.

Driver Projections

Projections are always something to consider when playing DFS. Trying to project a race and how it plays out, is something that will make you a better NASCAR DFS player. I’ve partnered with Joe Schroeder (@DFS_Analytics) to have a full on projection model in the NASCAR package. The legend page will help you understand more about the terms you see above the numbers. Instead of just giving you a projection, this system projects three very important things for NASCAR DFS: Finish Potential, Mover Potential, and Dominator Potential. You’ll hear me talk about wanting to have one to three dominators, and this projection system helps you project those drivers. Using the notes, projections, and rankings together, you’ll be able to build very solid NASCAR lineups. Projections are posted after qualifying, and then a final update is done after final practice.

If you have any questions about the NASCAR package, I’d love to answer them below. I’m open to any type of feedback you may have as well. I hope this gives you a better understanding of what you’re purchasing, and how much time and effort I’ll be putting into it weekly. You can buy the package in the RotoGrinders Marketplace each week.
