- Deebo Samuel 7+ Receptions
Will the First Play from Scrimmage Result in a First Down? (+370), FanDuel
Admittedly, there is not a significant amount of strong data supporting this look. This is more of a fun prop to root for, with the outcome of the wager being decided on the first play from scrimmage. Both the Chiefs and 49ers have been vulnerable on the ground this season, which means a running play could, in theory, end up going for 10+ yards on the first play from scrimmage – run plays are a popular game script opener in the Super Bowl. However, it would not be surprising to see either of these two heavyweight coaches come out aggressively right away in this Super Bowl rematch. Everyone knows how well these two teams have played offensively of late, and the pressure is arguably on the defense more than the offense right out of the gate, seeing their first live action in nearly two weeks. At significant plus money, this is worth a small stab.
Isiah Pacheco 20+ Rushing Attempts (+240), bet365
Sometimes, the alt-market requires a trained eye to spot extreme value, but other times, it’s hitting everyone right in the face. Entering play on Sunday, Isiah Pacheco has recorded 24 rushing attempts in 2 of his team’s 3 postseason games so far. In the Super Bowl, Pacheco will get to face a San Francisco run defense that has been gashed by opposing running backs of late, allowing 93 rushing yards to David Montgomery in the NFC Championship Game and 108 rushing yards to Aaron Jones in the team’s playoff opener. In a competitive game script, Pacheco should see a minimum of 15 rush attempts. If the Chiefs find themselves playing with a lead, there is an extremely realistic path to this ticket cashing.
Deebo Samuel 7+ Receptions (+290), bet365
Hunting for value on the alt-market, Deebo Samuel presents our best opportunity among pass catchers in this game. Since Thanksgiving, Samuel has recorded at least 7 receptions three times in nine games, and he was not even fully healthy in at least a pair of those contests. In the NFC Championship Game, Samuel led the 49ers in targets, catching 8 passes on 9 targets. The Chiefs have a strong secondary unit, but they have been willing to allow a number of short passes underneath during these playoffs. Samuel is in prime position to take advantage of this matchup on Sunday evening.
