On Sunday, the Tennessee Titans will travel to Lincoln Financial Field to battle the Philadelphia Eagles. Entering play, both teams lead their respective divisions and are well-positioned for a postseason run. If the Eagles emerge victorious in this matchup, they will have an opportunity to clinch a playoff berth for the second consecutive year if the Washington Commanders, Seattle Seahawks, and San Francisco 49ers each lose this weekend. Oddsmakers are expecting Philadelphia to take care of business on their end in Week 13, pricing the Eagles as 5.5-point home favorites on the spread.

Let’s take a deeper look at the matchup to see where NFL bettors can find value at sportsbooks in this contest.

Tennessee Titans

Following an 0-2 start to the campaign, Tennessee has completely changed the trajectory of their season – winning seven of their last nine contests. In that span, their only two losses have come by one score, having been defeated by the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals – both of which made the AFC Championship game last season. On Sunday, Tennessee could find an abundance of success on the ground against an Eagles defense that ranks 29th in Rush EPA/play this fall. After three consecutive inefficient weeks from Derrick Henry, he finally has a favorable matchup that could provide an opportunity for him to have a big afternoon. Ryan Tannehill will find it much more difficult to move the chains through the air against a Philadelphia secondary unit that ranks 2nd in Dropback EPA/play in 2022.

The most notable injury news for the Titans in Week 13 concerns the absence of defensive end Denico Autry, who will be on the sidelines for the second consecutive week. Per Pro Football Focus, Autry ranks in the top-25 percentile as both a run defender and a pass-rusher in 2022, making his absence particularly noteworthy against a strong Philadelphia offense. In Week 12, the Titans managed only one sack against Joe Burrow with Autry on the sidelines. Though losing Autry is significant, this group still held the Bengals to only 20 points last weekend, and should be able to avoid embarrassment, if nothing else. Since Week 3, the Titans have not allowed more than 20 points to any of their opponents.

Philadelphia Eagles

Only the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, and Miami Dolphins rank better in offensive EPA/play this season than the Eagles. Jalen Hurts continues to excel in his third season, having thrown for 17 touchdowns and only three interceptions through 11 games. He ranks 5th among qualified signal callers in QBR, and has added another 597 yards and eight touchdowns with his legs. Despite Tennessee having strong season-long numbers against the run, Philadelphia should be able to find success in this spot, with Denico Autry missing from the Titans’ defensive line. The Eagles’ offensive line should, once again, be able to dominate the line of scrimmage, which should lead to a strong offensive performance from this group on Sunday.

Consistent with previous weeks, Philadelphia’s biggest vulnerability is against the run. In 2022, this unit ranks 24th in opponent yards-per-carry and 29th in Rush EPA/play. Javon Hargrave, Fletcher Cox, and Haason Reddick continue to be an elite combination of pass-rushers, but they have been woefully deficient as run-stoppers. The Eagles would benefit from securing an early lead, which is likely to force Tennessee into a pass-heavy game script. Expect Philadelphia to be hyper-focused right from the opening kickoff in this one, with the understanding that an early deficit could put them in a precarious spot.

Titans vs. Eagles – Picks & Predictions

Tennessee’s defense has played as well as any team in the league since Week 3. However, the absence of Denico Autry on the defensive line could be particularly problematic against an elite Philadelphia offense. The Eagles are fresh-off of a 40-point performance on Sunday Night Football in Week 12, and have no major injuries to report on offense that indicate any major regression. Both teams’ offenses are well-equipped to exploit deficiencies that are present in their opponent’s defense – making it likely that both teams will be able to move the ball effectively in this one. It might not be the most psychologically comfortable wager, but the over should have a competitive opportunity to cash in the fourth quarter this afternoon in Philadelphia.
