Texans vs. Colts NFL Player Props for Saturday, January 6th

Gardner Minshew OVER 237.5 Passing Yards (-110), Bet365

Gardner Minshew has only eclipsed this market number in 5 games this fall, but he is likely going to need to thrive through the air this evening for the Colts to have any hope of competing against the Texans. Since Week 11, the Texans’ defense ranks 6th in EPA/play and 1st in success rate against the run, compared to 17th in EPA/play and 17th in success rate against the pass. The continued absence of cornerback Tavierre Thomas and safety Jimmie Ward makes Houston very beatable in the secondary unit, which could lead to a spike performance from Minshew.

Dalton Schultz UNDER 4.5 Receptions (+100), BetMGM

As a general disclaimer, Dalton Schultz has a $250k bonus that will kick-in if he catches 6 passes tonight. However, contract bonuses are not likely to be a point of emphasis for a team that needs a win by any means necessary to keep their playoff hopes alive on Saturday. The Colts’ defense has done a reasonably good job against tight ends this year, ranking 12th in DVOA against the position. The last tight end to have 5+ receptions against Indianapolis was David Njoku all the way back in October. The over makes sense for obvious financial reasons, but this is not an ideal matchup to force-feed Schultz, making the under worthy of consideration at even money.

CJ Stroud OVER 264.5 Passing Yards (-115), BetMGM

CJ Stroud and the Texans offense has been down a cylinder since their latest offensive line injury, but they are more than capable of a strong performance in Week 18 against an extremely beatable Colts’ secondary unit. During the month of December alone, Indianapolis allowed 275 passing yards to Jake Browning, 229 passing yards to Taylor Heinicke, and 299 passing yards to Aidan O’Connell – all of which surpassed their pre-game default market number. Stroud and company could be playing from behind this evening as well, which makes it all the more likely that they will be attacking through the air.
