2024 The Masters Weather Forecast and Projections

We’re teeing off for the Masters this week! The forecast in Augusta starts ugly but improves in time for the weekend.

As usual in my golf weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps soften and slow the course, which helps as much as it hurts. With wind, there’s no helpful side; it’s all negative impact. And the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try to highlight the time frame with the lightest winds and the time frame with the strongest winds to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another. You can then use this to your advantage when making your picks on DFS sites and sportsbooks.

The Masters Weather Forecast

Thursday, April 11th

I expect a late start on Thursday with widespread morning rain and storms. By noon or so we see play resume, but even at that point winds will be noteworthy, 15-20mph with gusts around 30mph.

Friday, April 12th

The rain clears out, but the wind is still an issue. I’m expecting sustained winds throughout the day around 15-20mph gusting around 30mph.

Saturday, April 13th

This is more like it! Dry with a 5-10mph wind.

Sunday, April 14th

Solid day to close it out- dry with 5-10mph winds peaking in the afternoon.

The Masters Weather Thoughts

Thursday is ugly and could come with delays and/or an incomplete round that day. Friday, the wind stays breezy enough to be problematic and long lasting enough to be rather unavoidable. As of now, I don’t have a strong lean for which wave gets an advantage over the first two days.
